Indeed colleagues have had success with treating such addictions.
I remember a case that was presented to the SoH conference in 1998.
One needs to gain the confidence of the patient at a much deeper level than is normally required and find out the real reason behind the addiction.
Effectively there is a need to find out what are they escaping from or what is the 'pain' that they need to numb.
The case presented at the SoH conference had its roots in sexual abuse at a young age.

I once did a case of a young woman addicted to oxycontin (spelling?)
The addiction was the result of bad medical treatment after an
accident. The withdrawal from this drug is quite difficult and
usually very long. We got good results quite quickly.

Tanya, may I ask if this was using the person's indicated chronic remedy, or did you also use a more specific remedy to help with withdrawal?
Rosemary

if i recall, i took all the current sx and reactions.
her normal personality was so different than what i
was dealing with. this was a case that i did long distance
and have never met the woman. but she was a friend of my
daughter who intervened with information and observations.
i cant recall the remedies used (my computor has been
through several crashes and i don't think i have any of my
case notes). but there were a couple of different ones over
a period of about 2 weeks. and i also recall using 200c potencies
which can be obtained otc in seattle. at some point i suggested
she work with someone local and she went to bastyr univ i think
and was given nux v as a follow up rx for that point in time.
it's amazing the things one remembers/forgets.
