Messed up case?

Child age 9 saw me October 06 when the presenting case was Molluscum. She also had a Verruca and nosebleeds. Px Phos 30
Dec 06 - a couple of new molluscum have appeared but she is far less bothered about them and has returned to doing gymnastics and swimming, verruca is coming out,no nosebleeds. Px 200 .... given and only then does Mum tell me that she has had constipation all her life with large stools that hurt her . I told mum to wait a month and give her Sulphur 30.
Feb 07 - 1 new molluscum on tummy, all the ones on leg have gone, new one on genitals. The phos made the molluscum bigger, painful and they burst. When more came up in her genitals mum gave her the Sulphur - and the molluscum went away. She had 2 nose bleed before the Sulphur. Verruca gone but I spotted another where one had been removed by the doctor previously. A wart on her finger. Constipation and pain during stool gone!!!
Analysis - I think the Phos 200 caused the nosebleed. Px Sulphur 30
March 07 - All molluscum gone, constipation gone. Child discharged.
November 08 - Returned because lots of verrucas on both feet, 2 nosebleed a couple of weeks ago. Mum said she had given her a Sulph 30 after both of the nose bleeds. On her face is a small 0.5 cm hard lump which looked like a miliary spot. I told Mum to get it checked out.
Analysis - I didn't;t want to give more Sulphur and decided on Thuja 3O 1 dose, and for the lump on the cheek Silica 6 bd
January 08 - She took Silica for 2 weeks before Mum wondered if it maybe the cause of tummy aches and refusal of food. After stopping it she was fine. Verrucas not now bothering her and a bit better. 1 nose bleed which was a trickle. Changed sleeping pattern as it is difficult to get off to sleep and difficult to get up in the morning. Doctor says the lump is a cyst under the skin and has referred her to a dermatologist.
Analysis - I think she was proving the Silica. Decided to give Sulphur 30 which is complementary and an antidote to Silica followed by another dose of Thuja 30 a week later.
February 08 - The consultant says the cyst is a Pilomatrixoma which is a cyst in a hair follicle and recommends leaving it as surgery could leave a scar. She gets very full when eating just a little and has lost a lot of weight through refusal of food. She is flatulent + burping. No nosebleeds. verrucas - 1 gone the others look better. Sleep better but difficulty getting up in the morning. Px Lyco 30
March 08 - no change in the fullness after eating a little food + the constipation has returned. No nosebleed, no change in the cyst and verrucas less evident. Is now getting up fine in the morning.
Analysis - I am not happy the Lyco did nothing and don't want to go up because the constipation has returned. I decided to return to Sulphur but in a 200.
I am not happy the way this case is proceeding and what I think happened was that although in January I correctly gave the Sulphur to antidote the Silica I followed it with the Thuja too fast. The return of the constipation I look on as regressive. I want to get this girl back to eating properly i.e. being able to eat a full meal without feeling so full that her tummy aches and she has to stop. She doesn't even eat more than a mouth full of a dessert. I wondered about Morgan Gaertner ? I would appreciate any thoughts on this case.
Thanks in advance as always.

Hi Rochelle,
"Some people say" :-) (I think including Hahnemann) that the best
"antidote" for a wrong remedy, is the right remedy! I notice that
thuja is also (2) under "easy satiety", so if it suits the rest of the
case well, why both with Lycopodium? (Unless that too suits the rest
of the case?)

The thuja was for the verrucas and suited the case at that time. The Lyco was for the easy satiety, flatus and burping. The Thuja may have caused this problem but the Lyco didn't remove it and possibly brought back the constipation. I have returned to Sulphur because she did so well on it previously.
So what you are saying is that I should have stuck with the Thuja?

Hi Rochelle-
I think you are doing fine till now.

Do you think the constipation now could be because she is eating so
little? In which case it might not be very consequential?

Also considering that Silica was able to create a proving, inclines me
to think that it might be needed sometime. The constipation, tendency
to cysts, suppurations etc. make me think so...May be instead of
repeated low potencies, a couple of 200?

Also the easy satiety she has-does she have hunger and then on eating
it fills her up or does she not feel hungry at all?

Is there any particular food that distresses more or she likes more etc.

Looking at when the warts verrucae come and go , is there a winter ? Psor? Since Sulph seems to be doing good...

Also the combination of bleeding and warts would make me think of
Ferr.picricum ( it is also supposed to complete the action of other
remedies)

Now that you have given Sulph and Lyc, can Calc be far behind?
Just some thoughts...

Hi, just wanted to guide you to an excellent book called The Journey
of a Disease: A Homeopathic Concept of Suppression and Cure by
Mohinder Singh Jus, 2006 1st English Ed. (originally published in
German in 1998)...along with Henne Heudens-Mast book called The
Foundation of the Chronic Miasms in the Practice of Homeopathy, 2005.
These are what can hlep crack a difficult case that may have the
Vital Force being suppressed from throwing off its Miasmatic dxs
either with Acute Homeopathic prescriptions or with Allopathic
meds...hopefully will help you to try and get at what is the rx for
this girls Miasmatic dx(s)...
Best of luck

Hi Rochelle,

Just some reactions which you've probably already considered....

Everything cleared up the first time - discharged March 07 - then she returned Nov 08 - 20 months later with a return of nose bleeds and the wart skin symptoms - plus a cyst on the face. When did they all start reappearing? Was there a trigger? How long was she free of symptoms - and did she have other symptoms which she ignored over this time?

So how does the background picture compare to last time - does it indicate that you needed to repeat the remedies given last time, maybe in a higher potency, or could it indicate that the last treatment resulted in suppressing the viral miasm. In terms of direction of cure - I wonder if molluscums that were on her legs but next appeared on genitals and tummy could be going in the wrong direction?

When she had silica she seemed to get symptoms related to a Silica proving - (interesting that sort of constipation you described at first is also Silica symptom) and antidoting with Sulphur didn't work. It is a bit inconsistent that Mum says stopping the silica coincided with the tummyaches and appetite improving - yet a month later these are symptoms that you are prescribing for. When did the tummyaches and appetite issues first start really? maybe the silica was aggravating an existing condition - or maybe there is some miscommunication between mother and daughter about what is happening . The daughter trying to pacify the mother, the mother having trouble putting a consistant picture together, all sorts of reasons are possible.

So it does seem all confusing, she is not responding well to the remedies - symptoms are returning, the picture isn't clear, so what else is happening? Is mum always in the room when you talk with her, is she a willing patient? She must be 11 or 12 now, moving into puberty?

She is doing gymnastics and swimming still? at what level is she doing these? - does she have any pressure to remain small? Does she continue to excercise even though she's not eating well - maybe moving into the anorexia/bulimia picture? What is their usual solution for the constipation? Your goal is to improve her appetite and digestion, what is her goal?

HPV does have abdominal distension and constipation as part of it's miasmatic picture. I have these remedies listed for HPV:

Main antimiasmatic remedies

THUJ, NIT-AC, CALC, LYC, Nat-s, Staph, Sabin, Sars.

Related remedies

Puls, Sulph, Merc, Sep, Phos, Bell, Rhus-t, Sil, Nux-v.

Regards,

Gail.

PS thanks for all the ISIS tips you gave me a while ago.

Hi Rochelle,
(Does "verruca" just mean wart, or is it a particular kind?)
I wasn't meaning to stick my neck out that far at this point! :-)
Going back to sulphur--as the last remedy that was clearly helpful in
an overall way, if I read right?--seems very reasonable to me! But if
that doesn't do the trick, I guess I'd be back to the "rest of the
case", and don't know if you're up to posting more about that. E.g.
any modalities, specifics about the verrucas, and about the girl
herself, temperament, personality, etc.? That's what I was taught to
use as a starting point, so I always feel sort of lost when faced with
physical symptoms only.

Since the biggest concern now are her appetite, weight, and c
onstipation, and you're not certain what's happening remedy-wise, might
it make sense to give her a few weeks on avena sativa tincture for
appetite and something gentle for constipation (fiber, magnesium? or
even just "wait and see"?), and see whether anything else changes in
the meantime? Seems like it might be best to make sure all of the
remedies have "worn off", and make sure you have a stabilized
prescribing picture. (I mean if sulphur 200 doesn't do it, or if for
any other reason you're dubious about that.)

cheers,
Shannon

Dear Shannon, Gail, Roger et al
A verruca is the name given to warts on the foot!!
For appetite did you mean Alfalfa? Mum finds that a spoon full of baked beans a day works on the constipation and hard stool.
In answer to Gail it is interesting that you mentioned anorexia as it was something I thought of and I wrote on a piece of paper and passed to Mum as the child was in the room. Mum said that on 1 occasion she remembers the child saying that she had a fat tummy- which is nonsense as she is slender but not too slender. Mum will keep an eye out and give her lots of love and attention. (Her little brother was in the room and really didn't like me giving all the attention to his sister so that was bad enough.)
Roger - as far as I know she is hungry before she eats. I do have some Ferr.Pic in but only in a 6 as I use it for patients with prostate problems. I have just checked it out in Clarke and see he suggests to not give it low!! Yes I have also wondered if Calc will show. I was also thinking of Morgan Gaertner. Have you ever used it or know much about it?
Mum will contact me in a few days and tell me how the Sulph 200 is going.
