I sent my son, who works for a computer support company, the email about Meg and the Yahoo problem. This is what he wrote back. It is common sense, yes, but I for one have fallen into seeing the world as a pretty safe place at present, so a reminder of the sharks out there is not bad to have.
Any e-mail that asks for a password or any other private information is to be ignored period. If you feel you need to respond to something of that nature that someone has sent via e-mail, call the purported sending company and check with them. If you get a phone call, before giving out any information, get a name and an extension they can be reached at and call the main support number or any other number for that company and try to reach the person who called or get more information on whatever it was they were asking about. ***Do not ask them for a number to call them back at as they could possibly still give you a number that you could reach them on that was not connected to the company they claimed to be with. I would never give out any personal information unless I am the person who initiated the request, ever.***

Thanks for alerting the group to the problem. I appreciate it so much. Now that Ardavan has successfully placed me back on the list, I can begin again.
I appreciate the suggestions from your son. I will be so much more careful in future. I, too, had fallen into a sense of 'safety' and complacency, and wasn't on the look-out for nasties of this nature and fell victim. So far, all is well and the proper steps have been taken.
