8 yr old girl with an acute. Constitutional Caust.
A week ago (Friday) she vomited. Saturday to Monday she was fine. Then Diarrhoea - or maybe very loose stools - difficult to tell because she flushed the loo and mother hasn't seen much. Mum says there is a very strong smell left in the bathroom. Child says , not watery, not frothy, usual colour, no pain before, after or during and it doesn't splurt out in a rush!!
She is not ill. Tongue slightly white in the middle. She has lost a lot of weight because mum has kept her off food and made smoothies of blackberries and cinnamon. (To stop the diarrhoea) Is drinking lots of water and flat coca cola (Not diet!) Since Tuesday tends to vomit at 6pm. On Tuesday had porridge in the morning. Tummy can be "achey" . Is hungry - fancies a tuna sandwich. Had one with paste in today. This morning vomited at 6 a.m. and mum said it was like loads of clear water with lots of retching after. Mum found this surprising as the last thing she has had was the blackberry smoothie.
Throat is fine and so are waterworks. No sweating, no fever.
I have told mum that if she is hungry to let her have a little of what she fancies. Maybe try porridge not made with milk. She has had some toast today as well.
Mum gave her an Ars 30 after the first vomiting and again on the Tuesday when started vomiting again. I told mum this was not Ars because the child is well and playing as usual + energetic. Brother has had vomiting and diarrhoea bug and so has Dad and Ars sorted both them out.
I have given her 1 dose of Sulphur 12 because of rep below.

Hm, based on the picture I'm getting, if this were me, or one of my
kids, I don't think I'd be doing *anything*, other than trying to feed
only to hunger, and with things that don't set off vomiting. Maybe see
if giving her activated charcoal or intestinal detoxicant made from
clay would help move the toxins thru faster? But to me, if she is
feeling well and her energy is fine, it sounds like her body is
handling something pretty well.

I don't know whether I'm "conservative" or just "lazy" but if
someone is feeling fine, acting fine, and going about their life fine,
why not just let the body handle the matter? (Or is it really dumb not
to try to stop diarrhea after a week? But even if she's *feeling*
fine???)

I've never heard of blackberry and cinnamon for diarrhea, but a Punjabi friend of mine taught me, when my children were young, that fresh pomegranate juice is wonderful for children with diarrhea, works every time, but maybe that could be thought of as suppressive, as it stops it in it's tracks, which perhaps you don't want in this case.
But it is important to ensure that children keep dehydrated and keep their nutrient/mineral levels up, I would be very unhappy at repeated diarrhea in a child, who was also not eating well.

Yes, part of me goes with what Shannon says - to leave her body fighting this bug. I did give her a sachet of Ultralife 5 a day sachet to make into a drink as that is full of natural good stuff Vit and Minerals wise. I also mixed up tinctures in a tiny vial, Echinacea, Myrrh(very bitter) Meadow sweet and Ladies Mantle and told her to put a few drops into a sweet ribena drink. I tried her on Manuka honey and she didn't like it. Don't know why but was thinking of parasites?

Had you thought that diatomaceous earth might be a way of detoxing and or dealing with any potential parasite?
Although certainly, gut parasitic infection usually has a lot of gurgling noise, a voracious appetite, and general poor condition...these are terms that appear to apply generally....and none of which appear here, in this case.
I know that homeopathically, through animals, it doesn't appear to be possible to eliminate parasites, but to bring the host/parasite balance back under control, some remedies that I have used are Cina and Arbrotanum, they might be worth a look at!?
If the child has very little bulk in her current diet, but lots of fluids, sugar and fruit, that would make her have very loose stools anyway....I don't particularly like thinking of loose stools, under those circumstances, as diarrhea.
Perhaps some form of probiotic, and I think the child needs to eat...all of here symptoms, to me, seem like hunger and poor diet
The quicker she is back on a well-balanced diet the better...this could all be continuing due to the mother being over-anxious perhaps....you say the child appears well....things often ARE what they seem, don't you think.

Yes I tend to agree. Actually the child was a little on the plump side so losing a bit of weight won't do her any harm I did tell mum to let her eat what she fancied when she is hungry. Mum will stay in touch so not a problem. Hopefully mum will check her stools rather than letting the child flush them away so quickly. I think the vomiting, for no reason is strange especially the one yesterday at 6 a.m. which appeared to be just water. I am pretty sure it is a bug.

Don't think she will take anything unless it tastes nice. Am a bit wary of milk based products with her at the moment thinking in terms of yoghurt .

One must be very careful about making a judgement on the adequacy of nutrition by the apparent plumpness of the child....more need to look at the types of nutrition provided...a child should not really be making too much choice in what they eat, as they will often choose what is not good for them, fats and sugars are addictive, and once addicted, they will choose them every time.

If the child is plump, then mum needs some advice on her nutrition, plenty of calories and none of them empty...as for flat coke...do you have any idea how much sugar there is in that!
Weak ginger tea with added raw honey or fresh apple juice (in the gingertea, that is), is a much better and more effective way of a) ensuring hydration and b) stopping queasiness and vomiting.
She needs to eat....there are many nutrients that need regular uptake to grow a healthy body.

Call me lazy but IMO some of the probiotic supplements are
great, and not necessarily milk-based. From what I read--and seems
consistent with my experience--yoghurt is nice for maintenance and as a
food, but for quickly and efficiently repopulating a stressed gut, it's
not potent enough. There might well be food sources that *are* potent
enough, but I don't know them. I've always used pills for the rare
circumstances where gut flora have been an issue. Candida; digestion;
ongoing fatigue--and diarrhea seems like it might be another--perhaps
the "good bacteria" will help her body to out-compete whatever's
causing the problem, *if* it's being caused by a bug. I'm partial to
the "broad spectrum" ones, that include *lots* of beasties, not just
acidophilus, tho that can work too. (It just doesn't seem very
"natural" to supply only one type, and I know that different ones of
the many beneficial bacteria play different roles, so why not
supplement as many of them as possible...)

But again, I wouldn't worry too much about it, so long as she is
*feeling* well. (If she starts to feel unwell that would be another
matter, of course.)
