Itching healing

I wonder if someone has some advice for this.

A friend has recently has surgery for thyroid cancer, part of the thyroid was removed and now she has extreme itching at the incision site.
The itching on the skin is unbearable and it is only slightly better by placing ice on the incision.

Any suggestion is much appreciated
Thank you
Lucy

Surely without a proper case history it would be better not to recommend a remedy but to suggest using either Calendula tincture or Hyper cal/Calendula cream.
This person has serious health issues and giving a remedy without proper repertorisation has dangers.

In general (not a homeopathic solution) for healing around incisions, especially for those that have to be left open for a long time, colostomies and such, there are two great products that a nurse neighbor of mine uses. They are made by a former RN, a friend of my neighbor’s. Vicky has a website called Strong Skin Savvy. She makes a mild vinegar spray and a safe cream to use after it. I of course don’t use them to treat incisions or such, but I have used them with GREAT pleasure over many years as safe, effective moisturizing creams in winter. The spray acidifies the skin (face, hands) so that the cream soaks right in. Her site is at www [dot] strongskinsavvy [dot] com. I know that a lot of her clientele are nurses ordering the products for professional use. Teresa (Northern VA)

I'm with you, Mary. Nothing was said in the original e-mail about stitching pains, or the wound being slow to heal, etc. All we know is that there is itching somewhat ameliorated by cold applications. Could the scar site be infected by stapylococcus? What does the scar look like? Has this woman had similar itching problems in the past?
It would be wise to get more information before we start throwing out treatment suggestions.
Peace,
Dale

Yes, the stitching rubric was a bit tongue in cheek - it was the
closest I could find to itching and it only had symphytum in there.

The rubrics are only suggestions, guesses at what might be happening
from the little information provided. I would hope that it just
begins to give a direction to look in for the person who is closer to
the situation.

I've been curious for a while - I've heard of Hypercal as a tincture,
how is it made and do you dilute it to use on open wounds? Can it be
taken orally too?

Gail.

Gail asked:-

I make it with 1/2 and 1/2 Hypericum and Calendula tinctures. If you are using herbal tincture like I do then sure dilute it as the alcohol in the tinctures will make it sting badly. I usually give it to patients saying "use it like dettol"!!
Re orally - I do use it in a gargle with Myrrh added if that is what you mean. Taking it orally I am not sure about as Hypericum is St John's Wort and would be used for depression and Calendula for healing but I would rather use it in potency for that.
