cortisone use

Hi,
I have a question about cortisone.
Once a person has become dependant on oral doses of cortisone - is it
possible for them to be weaned off it?
This particular situation is a person who has autoimmune thyroid
disease and has also been on cortisone (not exactly sure why yet) for
quite a while. She wants to reduce the dose of cortisone but says she
runs into trouble every time she tries.
I was wondering around whether using 6x or 6c ACTH would help and
whether there was a guideline for the cortisone dosage reduction.
Thankyou,
Gail.

Hi Gail,
Caution.
Yes, one can be weaned off cortisone, but it is likely that the person
is not getting it for the thyroid part of the autoimmune disease
(usually, at least here, the y do not give it for that).
Which would mean that the auto-agression now has a different target.
In this case I should hesitate to suggest weaning her off the
cortisone, unless this process is closely monitored!
Regards
Luise (who, being an autoimmune person herself, has done quite a bit
of studying on the matter)

Thanks Louise,
I think the cortisone use started around extreme back pain issues -
but I still have to get a fuller story.
It seems she has come to the point of realising that she can't wean
herself of the cortisone which is why she is looking around for
information and possible help.
Gail.

Hi Haque,
I haven't heard of carcinosin being used this way. Do you know the
origin of the suggestion, and is it one that you've used for the
situation?
Gail--I started to reply re ACTH, but I don't think I did... I have
heard others report that 6c daily is indeed useful for helping to wean
from steroids, and read that in one case, it also solved the problem
for which the steroids had initially been given! Steroids depress /
inactivate the adrenal glands--which apparently is the reason why
long-term steroid history causes such problems for homeopathic
treatment--and ACTH (adrenocorticotrophic hormone) apparently helps the
adrenals recover. But I have no personal experience with it.

Both ACTH and carcinosin have been proved and have *different*
indicating symptoms as one would expect. (See O A Julian matreria medica)
ACTH is produced in the pituitary and it stimulates adrenals to produce
cortisol. One or other or both can be out of balance. As usual in
homepathy, the symptoms are indicative of issues below...... For example
hirsuitism is a symptom of ACTH excess but not cortisol excess.
SO if you give ACTH where cortisol is needed - expect a proving with
hirsuitism? You might get unpopular:-))
Weaning from steroids is not cookbook stuff IMO - it needs a case taking
to find the reason steroids were used - to address it - and to THEN wean
off steroids with suitable remedies and supporting items (gemmotherapy?)
to induce the adrenals to restore production of normal corticoids -
(nutrients like pantothenic acid, Vit C an B6 come to mind).
Mainly it needs someone to take the whole case and look into why
asteroids were used in the first place - I'd start there.
Namaste,
Irene

@ haque
what are the basis behind prescribing carcinocin 200 ; it may be the
clinical experience & if it is so than it must be tried in lot of
cases like in asthmatics where use of cortisone hinders the role of
homeopathic medicine.
