Interesting statement! Thanks! I've often wondered about what herbs do have suppressive effects. In your experience, are there any that fairly consistently can interfere with homeopathic treatment. I ask because sometimes I have a patient who is taking several Chinese herbal combinations prescribed by an Oriental Medicine practitioner, and I wonder if and to what extent I have to insist that they leave off the herbal treatments before embarking on a homeopathic one (I generally assume that a bunch of herbal medicines all taken together at least must confuse the picture -- but maybe I'm being too cautious?)

All the components are used in TCM as well as in Western Herbalism. I have studied both so I would/should know the energetics and the phytochemistry of those herbs.
None of them has any suppressive action whatsoever!
In almost 20 years of practice on non conventional medicine, I have never seen a herbs properly prescribed and taken cause any suppression. Never.

I do use Western Herbalism concomitantly to homeopathy if and when it is absolutely needed and I am able to differentiate the effects of each.
When it come to TCM herbs, that is a bigger problem as it uses large doses of very active substances, akin to conventional pharmacology, even they are prescribed energetically (or so they should be).
Nevertheless, if the prescription is energetic, based on symptoms, tongue and pulses, generally there is a synergistic effect (as well as with acupuncture properly done), but when it is used in a this for that, allopathic approach, then, yes, there can be suppression, in which case I prefer either to have the patient stop the TCM treatment or wait until it is done and intervene then.
Not sure if that answers what you asked, but it boils down to "know what you do and individualize the treatment" as usual.
