I don't think there is any difference --- they are synonyms

They may be represented differently in the Rep only because whoever put the
rep together didn't know that.
And, there are primary and secondary versions of these conditions.
And, acute and chronic as well.

Interesting to note that the acute condition which can last up to 6 months,
does not necessarily get allopathic treatment - it goes by itself so it was
mentioned.

But isn't this the same as Thrombocytopenia which will often disappear in
that time scale anyway!!

Yes it is the same

However, I would say that whether or not it disappears by itself will depend on what has led to it presenting as a symptom in the first place.

The idiopathic one surely refers to ITP (lowered white platelet levels for 'no really good reason') but couldn't you get a haemorrhagic purpura from a specific cause such as drinking rat poison or liver damage or even some nasty haemorrghic bugs - wouldn't the skin symptoms be purpura there?
I have treated a couple of people with the former (ITP) and tried to check the other on the internet but apart from the fact that horses seem to be prone to HP from a variety on non-idiopathic sources cannot offer much more!

My son got it at age 6 after a mild bout of Chicken pox. Can you imagine having to keep a boisterous 6 yr old still so he didn't damage internal organs as his platelet count was so low? It righted itself in a month. These days I would have probably used Arnica which I gave to someone you had this problem with chemotherapy and the bruising went away immediately.

Mm, that does sound like fun!
The reason for my question was, musing (again) over self and two family
members that all have the "easy" (even spontaneous) bruising,
ptechiae, and little thumbprint-sized bruises that I guess would be
called purpura. In the three of us, there is no sign of any other
*bleeding* problem, so I wonder whether there are other possible
reasons for purpura, besides low platelets? We all heal up just fine,
no nosebleeds or etc., just those goofy bruises--which are prevented,
in all three of us, by either large amounts of vitamin C (up to 10,000
mg/day), or at least for me, by ashwagandha. Maybe that's from
something other than a platelet issue, but I suppose the same rubrics
apply anyway.
