Please be advised that phenols are very toxic to cats, so don't use in any form. Essential oils in general are not advisable for use in cats. Just a little off topic information.

this is confusing and interesting. there are quite a few
animal folks, including holistic healers, who promote
eo for cats. what is the evidence/experience for these
contradictory claims?

There are hydrosols that are safer - but never EOs.
The research into EOs in one country started when ten persians all died
after being bathed at a grooming place where EOs were used in the
shampoo for a nice scent! Since then it has become common knowledge and
it applies to all EOs though some kill faster than others.

There are always better options than EOs for cats:-)
