Hello!
7 year old boy, Calc-C working well for him - has not lost any baby teeth yet. Developmental delay - autism diagnosis but definitely high functioning.
Anyhow, his permanent tooth came in behind his baby tooth. Now his baby tooth is no longer loose (tightened up). Dentist is pressuring mom to have baby tooth pulled. Will the Calc-C help with this? Any suggestions?

I feel sure I remember someone writing about this problem and curing it years ago. The Rx may have been Calc Phos as that is in the Rubric Teething Delayed in Boericke. Look it up and see if it fits. Maybe someone else remembers the case.

If the baby tooth has become jammed, it might need pulling, and that's
what the tightening up makes me think of.
Had he had a dose of calc-c during the time that the baby one should
have been coming out but wasn't? If so, might want to also consider a
different remedy, *perhaps* one of the nosodes--tub and syph are both
associated with irregular formation of the teeth? Or perhaps a
different "regular" remedy which might complement the calc?

I wrote in about a problem like this in a 9 year old (who is now 11). At the time, various remedies were suggested, including Calc, Bar-C and Sil. Nothing helped. Teeth would wobble and then firm up again, over years. Recently I gave Ignatia for an emotional crisis, when she said she felt a lump in her throat. First of all- emotionally the improvement was instant. She had a slight but unpleasant agg of dermatitis on the back of her hands. Then a tooth which really had to come out started wobbling and came out within 24 hours. This is after a three year period where no teeth had fallen out at all.
I don't think this means Ignatia is the remedy for the teeth problem - but I do think this shows when the remedy is really strongly connected to the general and ME state, it will resolve this problem too. I have found connection to difficult dentition in Ignatia, but I don't see anything in the literature to make me think it would be a remedy of choice for this.
Which makes me think that although he's been doing well on Calc, it may be worth while checking into other remedies that are a better match for the totality.

Remedies that work at the mental / general physical level should and
would take care of the locals- not because of any local affinity but
because working constitutionally they set up mechanisms that will take
care of the locals...In fact Ignatia should NOT be included in the
repertory for strengthening or loosening of gums...

But had you prescribed ignatia based on gum problem and if it makes a
general / mental symptom then that becomes significant...

Thank you all for the helpful responses. I have in fact been considering Tub.
Vera - very helpful - I will go back and reassess. Frustrating because Calc really did seem to cover it all. But your case is definitely food for thought and I am going to go back and look at the M/E further.
