What allopaths would say if we call them "accidental acupuncturists"
because they are giving injections and thereby are pricking some
acupuncture energy spot-
This is specious argument at its best

Big difference, in that "progress toward cure by pricking some
acupuncture energy spot by accident when giving an injection" is *not*
a significant part of allopathy! But I heartily second Dr. Roz's
observation. Hahnemann *did* make the point that he did not consider
"like cures like" to be confined to substances. E.g. treating a burn
with heat (in a footnote toward the end, wasn't it?). I think that
would in fact be one of the reasons that group therapy can be helpful.
Also a reason why e.g. movies can be "cathartic" and bring about
insight etc. I think the term "homeopathic correspondence" would be a
better term for it than "homeopathy". But I think it's a *very* useful
observation!
I'm thinking too about which sorts of conversations have recently been
most helpful with my waiting-for-remedy, often moody, "poor-me" prone
pre-teen, when he's in his cups. If I want to get his attention and
cooperation, I have to first let him know I *hear* what he's dealing
with, by sort of mirroring it to him, explaining what I see/understand
(and I'd better get it right, LOL!); then I can nudge him on with words
of comfort and cheer. I think that approach is also using (obviously
to a lesser degree, but still) some of the power of homeopathic
("similar suffering") correspondence. I think this very basic
principle, of the power of "same suffering", comes up in *many* areas,
actually. I think that's one of the reasons we're having such a hard
time with this "definition" thing, because it properly (IMO) applies to
the deeper principle, but is being used to refer to specific practices.
Sort of as tho Newtonian physicists had gotten possessive with the
word "physics", and tried to get exclusive about what's "real" (well,
no doubt some did!). I continue to think that we'd be well advised to
just get on with clearer use of modifiers, e.g. "classical",
"Hahnemannian", etc.

There is no big difference-
Group therapy has more to do with the aping mentality we have also- if
there was homeopathy there it was not intentional sharing and airing
of similar symptoms alone does not lead to a cure and when we talk
about homeopathic practice we always talk about a cure-
Homeopathic correspondence occurs in a lot of practices - but so does
allopathic / antipathic - so what-
If fire fighters in California fight the fire with water - is that a
big victory for allopathy or enantiopathy or whatever? Does that prove
allopathy is the best treatment or firefighting is allopathic...
When the problem is more at hand to generalize like this brings in
unwanted complications and confusion in discussion- we can go all over
the place-
here we need to define the problem which is just defining what
homeopathic practice is- I am not even questioning Irene's practice-
if she does a lot of good that is what we need - but in a general way
what is homeopathy , what is not, what are the things in a grey area-
Saying group therapy is homeopathic is neither here nor there- what
does it buy us? That individual therapy is allopathic???

I don't see any point in belaboring the issue; I've found it an
interesting and connection, but if you don't, that's okay too.
What do you make, then, of Hahnemann's mention to applying the
principle to burns, using heat to cure a burn?
