[H] Need help with severe back pain

My personal approach to this nightmare (and I insist it is personal, and yes it is a nightmare).
The first thing to do is to offer relief without muddying the situation even more and without causing side effects: my first choice is acupuncture.
Done by a properly trained acupuncturist, not one who will use recipes for pain but will take into account the type of pain, the tongue, the pulses, do a full TCM assessment, it can not only relieve but I have often seen a kind of "energetic reboot" that will then give true symptoms usable in repertorisation; moreover, the relief from pain enables the patient to look at and speak about the underlying roots of the situation.
When I was still in the conventional system and could prescribe allopathically, I sometimes used another "shock reboot" by giving a very high dose of cortisone on day 1, half of it on day 2 and a quarter of it on day 3, nothing else; it gives instant relief, often remove the action of the homeopathic remedies if there has not been any grafting and because it is short and intense it does not cause systemic problems or prevent the normal function of the adrenals. In fact I used this system last year (with the help of the patient's GP) to give some relief to a patient with intense painful itching and eruption over the whole body, not reacting to any remedy of any sort and even not to acupuncture; was almost suicidal........worked well, then could give the appropriate series of remedies, the patient is now almost cured.

"Too many remedies" and auto-medication is an ever growing problem especially with the aura of innocuity around homeopathic remedies, often pushed by health shop attendants who have no knowledge whatsoever of homeopathy.
I use the acupuncture approach quite often to draw a baseline as I get more and more intricated, complicated and multimedicated patients. As for the cortisone technique, very rarely and only if I am sure there will be no interaction with drugs.
