Re: Rash - any ideas

I had a phone call tonight from a former patient about her 17 yr old daughter who is in an absolute panic about a scarlet rash she has.
It started on Thursday with swollen glands and a sore throat but no fever that she can remember. Then she started to get a rash. Apparently she went out with her friends on Saturday night!! Now today she is in a panic as the rash has joined up and is bright red.. It is not on her face. It is a little bit raised and sometimes slightly itchy. She is not feeling ill. She went to the doctor today or should I say the doctor came out to the car in case she had rubella. He looked down her throat and said it was very red and that she probably has scarlet fever and gave her antibiotics which she has not taken. The girl is in a panic because of the way the rash looks and that is all I can get out of her. She is coming in the morning to see me and meanwhile I told her to take a couple of doses of Aconite 30 which they have in the house. She seems to think she has something terrible and I told her I will probably just laugh and she said that this would make her feel better!!
Anyone any ideas - not that we go on disease names anyway - but out of interest. I have looked up about scarlet fever and it appears that she would have a strawberry tongue which I will look for. The scarlet colour seems to discount rubella and roseaola seems to be an infantile disease.
Thanks
