ยง 18 Sixth Edition

From this indubitable truth, that besides the totality of the symptoms with
consideration of the accompanying modalities (? 5) nothing can by any means
be discovered in disease wherewith they could express their need of aid, it
follows undeniably that the sum of all the symptoms and conditions in each
individual case of disease must be the sole indication, the sole guide to
direct us in the choice of a remedy.

Who "could express their need of aid"?
Diseases? In the German text it is written in plural
"Krankheiten" (diseases). Does it mean that the
disease asks us to help it and the symptoms and
conditions are showing us where the help is needed? Or
the vital force uses the symptoms to express its need
for help, to attract our attention to its sufferings?

When I read the whole thing together, what I understand is that the
'diseased' organism can only inform us by only the language of symptoms.
We need to be able to understand what the patient is saying and the full
extent of each symptom.

That is why symptoms of patients is so important. And that is why
'Patient-speak' is mostly meaningful to Homoeopaths and like 'nothing on
Earth' to allopaths.
As an example GENERALS - TOUCH - agg. - limbs touch each other at night;
cannot bear
How is this symptom of use to an allopath?
But as you can see, it is gold dust to us.

Hi Michael,

you have to remember that "Krankheiten" does not *exactly* mean
diseases..

Krankheit in German is English illness.

It depends on the way, disease is interpreted in English by
the person reading or using it, whether disease and illness mean
exactly the same thing.
