There's a BIG difference between finding that genes are linked to
disease (which we have known for decades) and saying they are the key
to beating the disease as the article leaps forward to assume!!!
Example:
In Feline leukaemia (FeLV) the feline genome contains a fragment of DNA
which the feline leukaemia virus (which under the right circumstances
causes the feline leukaemia disease) uses to develop a second disease -
lymphoma.
The FeLV virus uses its own DNA added to the piece in the cat's DNA and
uses gene recombination to put the DNA pieces together to trigger
lymphoma - to add insult to the already life threatening leukaemia.
So what?
Yes we KNOW there is DNa involved - but how does that lead to a cure?
There's nobody "beating" feline leukaemia in the allopathic world, much
less the malignant lymphoma along with it! Yet we have known about the
DNA issue here for decades!
It's why in the 60s someone in California tried to breed Asian
Leopard Cats into the domestic feline lines, as the Asian Leopard cat
lacks that DNA fragment associated with feline leukaemia and lymphoma.
the hope was to introduce lines of cats without the DNA fragment,
"breeding out" the negative chunk of DNA.
Well THAT had a lot more promise than any modern DNA "fix" - at
least it might have worked in theory - though it did not work either.
So maybe they think they found a key - but there are no locks in sight
anywhere that might accept it
)
(Homeopathic remedies are still the best answer.)
