I guess that you are probably referring to Sequential therapy. I have
not practised it and I am not qualified to comment on it; but I am not
saying that it will not work. Once again it is for experienced
practitioners to decide. It should not be part of a student homeopath
though since they might have more ups and downs with their
prescription and might resort to exotics without analyzing their
faults and learning from it.
What elements? Periodic tables? It might help in giving a very general
idea of what things are. But homeopathic practice - usually - should
not be based on a general idea. Remedy relationships in homeopathy are
not based on who the neighbor is but what is the action of the
medicine. What is the "neighbour" relationship between Nux vom,
Nat.mur and Sepia? But Nat.mur complements Sepia which complements
Nux. vom...
We also need to remember that even these time tested relationships are
not fool-proof and we should not follow them blindly... symptoms guide
as always - otherwise we will never find new remedy relationships at
all...

Yes, I mean the periodic table and no, the homeopathic practice
should indeed not be based on a general idea alone.
But I do think that the periodic table can give a framework for the
already known remedies.
And seeing that bigger picture might be very useful, even for
students in my opinion.
