Tonic

Have several 'elders' that I am working with. Occasionally I have seen them go into slumps in their overall energy level. Nothing specific - nothing that can be related to any specific symptom, emotion, food, event, etc. I am wondering if anyone has given a remedy as a gentle 'tonic' in this situation. I am considering Carbo veg. or perhaps cell salts. When the subject came up in conversation, many smiled and recalled their mother's giving them 'spring tonic' as children. Perhaps I should prescribe a sip of Elderberry Wine?????
Your thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I keep reading that you can use the combined formula of cell salts (all 12 together) in such instances. Our homeopath prescribes them in a very (AFAIK) unusual way: one pellet per day for 4 days, then off three and repeat the cycle. That surely wouldn’t possibly hurt anyone and might help. If anyone thinks this is not a good idea, I would be very interested to hear reasons. Teresa (Northern VA, USA)

Well, guess what, I don't think it is a good idea :-)

How are you supposed to know what is going on when more than one rx is given, let alone 12.

Just because a client is elderly doesn't mean that pill popping or supplement popping is the quick and easy answer - you still need to identify what is going on and why. Sometimes it is because they haven't been eating properly, living on their own and cannot be bothered to eat or cook well but they might not tell you that - sometimes it is because they just want to chat and be with someone (the best rx of all sometimes) - sometimes it is because of a difficult anniversary date looming, or because 'age' is troubling them, the future might look gloomy, they are not sleeping much and don't know how to handle the time awake for long hours or whatever. These kinds of situations build up after a while and a slump in energy is inevitable.

These are potentised substances you are dealing with and their dynamics, whether cell salts or not, should be thoroughly respected. Each one of the cell salts has their own special sx picture and application and might not be needed at all anyway.

Treat each individual with care not convenience, identify what needs to be cured, if anything, and whether homeopathy is actually required. Joy

Cell salts really do work very well in such circumstances, amazingly. Rosemary
