IMO- As for influencing statistics, I don't think circumcision has as much to do with HIV incidence as cultural customs & mores.

Many African tribes circumcise and still have high incidence of HIV.

IMO, again- in my (empirical, casual, personal) interactions with Muslim and Christian communities here in Kenya, I find that, overall, the Muslims appear to be more conservative (ie, restrained) in sexual behaviors and stronger family cohesiveness, and hence, I believe, the reason for the somewhat lower incidence of HIV in the Muslim communities. However, that same conservativeness (in the form of denial) prevents accurate stats in reproductive health fields of research.
