FDA Guidance for CAM Products and Regulation

Hi all,
This looks like something we ought to be responding to! Click the
"tinyurl" to read the petition, and add your response if you agree! (I
would *think* this is US only--anyone have a different opinion?)
Shannon

--------------------
There is a crisis in health freedom. On April 30, 2007 the FDA will
close the public comment period on a "Guidance" which will classify
every alternative practice as medicine so that only licensed physicians
can carry out the procedure AND vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc., will
suddenly become "untested drugs" which will be forbidden.

Bad? Real Bad! But public outcry can stop this assault on your health
and your freedom.

Spread the word! Tell everyone in your Circle of Influence,
professionals, alternative practitioners, nutrient and herb companies,
everyone! Let them know how important their participation is to make
sure the FDA backs off from this repressive course.

Please share this link with them and urge them to take action:

yes, i just downloaded and read the FDA
draft guidelines. they definitely include
homeopathic remedies as products for their
regulatory process. what isnt in the guideline
though, is the idea that they will also demand
licensing for all practitioners of whatever
modality is used. that leaves us out in the
cold big time.
laibow's website has a citizen's petition that
has legal standing--different from a regular
petition that anyone can type up and distribute.
there is also a link to post commentary to the
FDA there. but you can also go onto the FDA
site and post a comment through one of their
links.
for those in NYS, there is a similar process with
4 bills in the legislature. laibow posted this
about a week ago. 4 states that will be the test
states basically--states with very strong holistic
support.
this is a state of emergency for homeopathy and all
holistic means for health.
spread the word which is proving difficult because
people just wont believe this is happening.

addendum--
mike adams (news target) has reported difficulty getting
onto the FDA site to read the draft guidelines. i was able
to open the draft guideline up and copied it for future
access. if anyone has difficulty opening the site, i
will forward the draft (17 pp).

Tanya,
Finding the FDA website wasn't hard (www.fda.gov), but from there I
can't tell where to go--the homepage doesn't mention anything about
"citizen comments"--?
Thanks,
Shannon

Hi Tanya,

Can you explain what you mean by this?
Thanks!

Hi, Tanya --
I tried to get on a few days ago but encountered problems calling up anything but a summary statement of the proposed regs. Please send me a copy of the full draft.
Thanks!
Dale

thanks for sending this. i sent news target a
pointed post last week about not covering the Codex
in a meaningful way and asked them to do so with
action links. i would like to think they responded
and hopefully i wasn't the only one. i also wrote to
john mercola, nd about why he wasnt doing regular
posts about the codex. the last time he had something
on his newsletter, as far as i could find, was 2005!
if there are other newsletters or lists that would respond,
i suggest people start sending posts to them, asap.
despite the posts attacking natural solutions foundation,
i think the word needs to get out about the Codex. i haven't
read the oppostion to nsf's postion yet but will do so
today with the links that christine posted. thanks for
sending them christine. i have gotten some scuttlebutt about
criticism of the nsf work, but nothing that was concrete.
