Call for submissions: Finding remedy candidates

_Similia_, the peer-reviewed journal of the Australian Homoeopathic
Association, is calling for manuscripts for its June edition.
_Similia_ is indexed by CINAHL, a citation index functionally
equivalent to Index Medicus / Medline, giving its substantive contents
a good potential reach within the medical and healing professions.
As of its last edition, _Similia_ has a new look, containing
departments and series based on Hahnemann's definition of the art
(minimum: single, unmixed remedy matched on the basis of symptoms
obtained in real provings). The journal takes as axiomatic that
Hahnemann defined homoeopathic practice. Experiments and explorations
within that definition, however, and discussion on related topics, are
always of interest.
The December 2006 edition of _Similia_ addressed the topic "What is a
homoeopath?" in order to begin to cut through the confusions arising
between the various practices calling themselves homoeopathy. Amongst
other gems, it contained a concise piece, "Homoeopaths and the Law of
Similiars", by Isaac Golden, on the question "which simillimum?"; and
a challenging piece by Peter Fraser, "On being a homoeopath: and on
being an outsider", on the vexed question of adopting allopathic
standards.
The June 2007 edition of _Similia_ will have as its theme "Finding
remedy candidates". The central focus here is on how we arrive at the
set of potential remedies to study in relation to a patient.
Casetaking itself and study of the materia medica are also closely
related to the theme.
Most practitioners move from casetaking to repertorisation, but other
methods for recalling a medicine's possible relevance exist. Amongst
them are a broad knowledge of comparative materia medica; memory and
intuition; the speculations of Scholten; and Sankaran-style metaphors,
the allopathic doctrine of signatures, and other mnemonic systems.
If you can offer something that relates to homoeopathy, even if it
doesn't relate particularly to this edition's theme, _Similia_ will
welcome a chance to assess its relevance to its readership: mostly
homoeopaths and homoeopathic students.
A variety of formats is possible in the new-look _Similia_. The
occasional patient perspective would be welcome; diagrams, tables,
drawings, and photographs are welcome too.
The deadline for the present edition is flexible as long as I hear
from you by the formal date currently set, which is Monday 16 April.
Substantial pieces (not letters or reviews) will enjoy an anonymous
peer review. Final revisions are due by Monday 7 May, but that date
too is negotiable in advance.
Authors' guidelines, and a broad outline of the journal's new
departments, appeared in the December 2006 edition, and are available
from me. I'm happy also to provide guidance on making your topic
relevant and alive to the journal's readership. If you have thoughts
