The cell salts off topic

I attended a seminar today on drug and alcohol abuse complicated by
depression.
One of the problems when detoxifying are cramps and it seemed to me
the cell salt Magn phos could have been safely suggested. .
Schuessler himself says they are not homeopathic but does anyone
think they could be of any use in these dependent damaged people.
One would like to get up and relate how very good homeopathy is as an
adjunct but the reality is that it would not be heard. I speak to a
few individual people when I can and offer to participate in
trials. The cell salts are easily obtainable. In a 6x is it
possible that any of the Kali or Natrum characteristics would be there.
So sad currently as have elderly friends who are ill and I have to be
a friend and not a treating homeopath, Jean

Hi Jean,
Going even farther into "off-topic" :-) magnesium is one of the
nutrients that is often useful in treating (and where the physiological
need is increased by) both depression and alcoholism, and I would guess
other drug dependencies too; which perhaps supports the idea that it
might be useful also in cell salt form, tho have no experience with
that. Alcoholism (and I think drug dependency too) generally comes
along with general nutrient depletion, so I wonder if the Bioplasma
(mix of all the cell salts together) might be even more helpful?
Someone recently told me (and thanks! :-) ) that she finds Bioplasma
quickly effective in normalizing low blood sugar and hyperadrenal
state, both of which would seem *very* relevant to addictions as
well? But I'm only wondering, have no experience with it.

My very wonderful Pakistani-born homeopath sometimes uses cell salts as an adjunct to the simillimum. He will prescribe one single tablet of a 6x once or maybe twice a day for 4 days, then have the patient wait and look for/report any effect. Certainly more of a minimum dose than usually suggested with cell salts, and very different from the instructions on the box and in the books that I had always used before I became his patient…
He taught a class on using cell salts, but I missed the one where he talked about dosage. When I manage to listen to that recording, I will try and report what he says.
I know from personal experience that Mag phos, even 4 pellets repeated or in water in sips, works wonders for cramps in general. Teresa (Northern VA, USA)
Change the world one small loan at a time...

Thanks Shannon ,Therese.
I did in fact speak to the Drugs and Alcohol person and suggest he look at Magn Phos in the 6x to help with cramps. He said he would. I also advised him to explore the other salts. Maybe exploring would lead him on to homeopathy.
This led me to wonder if say Calc phos in a 6x would address any of the restlessness and looking for home which could be found in Calc Phos on high potency, or clinging to addiction even though harmful ?/ a Kali thing. Would Nat Mur in a 6x ever address hurt and resentment .
Thanks, Jean.

Hi Jean,
Re using nat-m in 6x to address nat-m issues--I haven't actually tried
6x for a "constitutional" issue, but have numerous times used 6c, and
found it to work very nicely. So my guess is that 6x will work too,
depending on just how good the correspondence is, of course. I
wouldn't hesitate to try! I'd probably say I was suggesting it for
some simple physical thing, and then watch closely to *see* whether it
addresses the M/E?

It will not be me prescribing . hopefully the bloke will as he said he would look at the cell salts and find something physical that corresponds and maybe some energy in the universe will see it helps the mental picture also and he will become interested in system Who knows?// I am so tired of being powerless, Jean

There is no harm in supplementing alcoholics as long as the doses are commensurate with their liver function. Provided it is reasonable they should generally be given a multivit. The B vits (+C) are those most commonly in need of supplementation. Min. depletion can contribute to mood problems (most commonly Iron & Zinc) Alcoholics are often vit and/or min deficient. Avena sativa is the best known herbal in alcoholism and a very very useful adjunct as are tissue salts ( as is eating properly!)
The tissue salts should be chosen in the main for the acute state.
see on my site here
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/homeopathy ... salts.html

For the chronic state I would concentrate on using individuaised homeopthy rather than expecting too much from nat-m tissue salt

From my extensive friends-and-family experience with alcoholic
nutrition: :-)
Also magnesium is huge!!! It's depleted by alcohol, and also
preexisting deficiency can be a predisposing factor, since deficiency
of it can cause depression.

Another thing that may be important is high-protein diet AND
supplementing with a pre-digested protein source--that alone cured
(really! well, cured her of alcoholism, not of all her other issues) a
family member many years back. The multiple deficiencies give rise to
digestive weakness, so for some the "pre-digested" (or at least
extremely easily digested) aspect is important.
