Possible homeopathy for aminopterin rat poison in pet food

With thanks to the two cases I know of, I tried to come up with a remedy
list and then rubrics to try to guess some possible homeopathic remedies
for animals with the new poisoned canned food containing the rat poison
come cancer drug, "aminopterin" in 40ppm amounts:

Symptoms included:
Acute kidney failure - in all cases. (elimination rubric)
Very high creatinine
Refusal to eat
Bleeding from mouth
Bleeding from rectum
Ulcers on tongue
Laziness
Ear hematoma

Suggested MAIN rubrics - with top considerations for some rubrics that
may vary:

MIND - EATING - refuses to eat (Use Lach, Hyos, Apis, or Op)
MOUTH - BLEEDING
MOUTH - BLEEDING - continuous, does not coagulate (Crot-h or Sec)
RECTUM - HEMORRHAGE from anus
KIDNEYS - PAIN... (Use Lach, Apis, or Canth)
KIDNEYS - RENAL FAILURE - acute (elimination rubric)
GENERALS - LABORATORY findings - creatinine - increased (Op and others)
Also:
MIND - LAZINESS
MOUTH - ULCERS - Tongue
SKIN - ERUPTIONS - blisters - blood filled (Lach or Sec)
GENERALS - HEMORRHAGE

In my opinion:

Top remedy choices from these rubrics:
Lachesis, Crot-h, Hyos,
Depending on emphasis and case differences, others are:
Apis, Canth, Bapt, Op, Sec, Am-c, Cupr.

Lach is most general for prophylaxis.

surely you'd want to include some of the toxicity rubrics that would
bring Phos, Ars, Nux vom, and possibly the cadmiums and kaliums into
the equation. in fact there are very many haemorrhagic rx alongside
the other sx noted, that would apply. Joy

Thanks, Irene.

That's an excellent idea, to try to come up with a set of rubrics. Have you
tried any of your suggested remedies in these two cases?

It strikes me that the remedy that will succeed would need to be one with a
very strong affinity to the kidneys, given that it's the central organ
damaged.

It's also damage from a poison, so in addition to the kidney affinity, the
remedy should have at its core recovery from toxic damage.

And it should have thrombocytopenia -- low white count and low platelets
(leading to all the bleeding symptoms).

It strikes me that some of your rubrics are probably not as definitive as
others -- for instance, with all this going on, I can't imagine anyone
wanting to eat.

I guess what I'm wondering also is which of our poisonous remedies would
most closely resemble the action of aminopterin. It might also make sense
to look at chemical composition of this agent.

Just thoughts.... Certainly the snake toxins are a good set of remedies to
look at.

Warmly, Rosemary

Oh! Aminopterin inhibits folate. Not homeopathically, but practically, I
wonder if folate supplementation could be helpful. Basically the syndrome
is pure kidney failure. Lots of hydration (subcutaneous, etc...) has also
been helpful to assist some animals in surviving.

One more thought -- if someone could get it or methotrexate, a related
substance, potentized, it could provide immediate rescue possibilities, to
be followed by whatever remedy seem indicated.

It's also a form of dicarboxylic acid. Which might lead one to look at acid
remedies??

Good thoughts Rosemary and I would add that sx need to be ranked as
well - for example the mouth ulcers would be very high ranked as it
suggests ulceration throughout the whole system not just the mouth and
although folate reacts directly with the kidneys one has to remember
they are small fragile organs that do a lot of work so they would
break down first maybe but then all organs would follow and the fact
that haemorrhaging is occurring suggests the liver is also involved -
a huge organ that also does a lot of work but one that is more robust,
can regenerate but the bleeding is happening early on and so is of
prime importance

so ulceration, haemorrhage, violent kidney breakdown - what about
Terebinthina - I think this rx would have to be considered at least

post mortem results would be useful as far as knowing the entire
damage done

Very good suggestion about Terebinthina - I was thinking about this too-

In Kent - Mouth- Aphthae extending thru intestinal tract is Ter- it
has this involvement of large areas

I agree -- Ter seems to resonate with the whole situation. The reality check
will be if someone gives it to an animal that's been affected and sees
results. Rosemary

I would not use Ter, because it does not handle the most serious aspect,
and the only one common to all cases - the acute kidney failure from
physical (and chemical) causes (crystals doing physical damage).
Ter kidney/bladder action (and gut action) is to do with infection
over time - cystitis, abscess etc. It is not present in *acute* kidney
failure.

My top pick is LAchesis.

It handles
MIND - EATING - refuses to eat
MIND - LAZINESS
MOUTH - BLEEDING
MOUTH - ULCERS - Tongue
RECTUM - HEMORRHAGE from anus
KIDNEYS - PAIN
KIDNEYS - RENAL FAILURE - acute
SKIN - ERUPTIONS - blisters - blood filled
GENERALS - HEMORRHAGE

I did not choose "appetite wanting" - a huge rubric - but chose "refuses
to eat", because those with lack of appetite will usually accept
assist-feeding - but not here.

Mind symptoms are harder to figure in these cases, but Lachesis is at
least not inconsistent with poisoning issues, having:
MIND - ANGUISH - pain; from - Abdomen; in
MIND - CONFUSION of mind - intoxicated - as if
MIND - DELUSIONS - poisoned - he - about to be poisoned; he is
MIND - DELUSIONS - poisoned - he - has been
MIND - DELUSIONS - poisoned - medicine; being poisoned by
MIND - DELUSIONS - rats, sees
MIND - FEAR - drinking; of - thirst; with
MIND - FEAR - eating; after
MIND - PROSTRATION of mind - eating, after
MIND - REFUSING - medicine; to take the
MIND - REFUSING - treatment; every

The kidney pain is very specific in this, and though we can;t be sure
from animal feedback thatyit extends to bladder - the fact that it is
painful crystals tells us that. Lach has:
KIDNEYS - PAIN - extending to - Bladder - stitching pain

There is also in LAch:
GENERALS - AGRANULOCYTOSIS
....which fits the white cell and bleeding situaiton and is a syndrome
that often results from drug usage.

Lach generals look appropriate to me:
GENERALS - INFLAMMATION - Mucous membranes
GENERALS - INJURIES - Soft parts, of
GENERALS - PAIN - corrosive
GENERALS - VIOLENT COMPLAINTS
GENERALS - WEAKNESS - rapid
GENERALS - WOUNDS - penetrating, punctured

(None of the above rubrics is in Ter)

The case reported to me that had severe bleeding, died. The bleeding was
during the terminal stage, it is not common to all cases, and this
particular animal actually was poisoned slowly, rather than acutely as
most of them are. He'd eaten less of the food, but over some weeks.
The toxin destroys mucous membranes which is the physiological
cause of the bleeding.

Time will tell - I just hope the losses can be stopped.
As it is such an acute situation - there is not that much time to figure
out a solution.

then you don't understand this rx but that's your choice and decision
without appreciation and ignoring of vital signs. Lachesis only has a
minor link to kidney failure. Your choice of rubrics is debatable. If
any rx has an affinity to the kidneys and all the other sx you report
you are throwing it away mindlessly. Your signature says it all - man
(woman) who says it cannot be done..... Joy
