I have a patient, a child of 11 who is very tiny, petite and 3 years smaller than she should be according to the growth charts ,who came to me originally a couple of years ago for constant nosebleeds. Sulphur 30 - one dose sorted this out. At that time I was told of an instance when she was so upset that she burst blood vessels around the eyes.
This time she has come to me a year later and she has still not grown. She started getting nosebleeds again and mum gave her a sulphur 30 and they stopped. However she is also getting headaches- these can be in various places in the head and are appearing daily. She thinks she gets them after reading. (I have suggested that her eyes are retested). Sometimes after the headache she is left with the broken veins underneath the eyes again. Has anyone ever come across this phenomena? What can it mean?

One normally doesn't think of this with children -- how's her blood pressure?

Have you already ruled out the possibility of brain tumors pressing on/interfering with blood supply to glands (i.e why is the growth hormone being suppressed) and blood vessels?

I haven't discussed anything like this with her mother. The growth problem is being monitored by specialists and I have suggested that if the headaches carry on she should see her Doctor. I don't get the impression at the moment that the headache are that terrible but what you suggest is a possibility I suppose but one I feel is up to the allopaths to diagnose.

I have to say that it did cross my mind to take it , but the thought must have vanished as quickly as it arrived!!! I think her wrists are too small for my wrist monitor anyway!!

The nose bleeds have stopped so I really don't feel that platelets is a problem and she hasn't mentioned anything about bruising easily but I will ask - Thanks for the suggestion.

I would assume then that any issues would have been identified which leaves you free to boost her constitution any way you see

Thanks for the rubric - I didn't know that one existed. Am pleased to see Sulphur there not that the one dose of 30 did anything for her growth when I gave it a year ago!! I gave her a 200 today as she is still hot, gets hungry at 11a.m. etc.

Apparently when I was about 4yo I had my adenoids removed to stop frequent nosebleeds. They were possibly inflamed due to allergies or URI's (for which I also had often). Helped back then but of course didn't address my constitution. I find I now occasionally have a small anterior bleed when conditions are dry or my nose irritated and I've blown it too many times or too hard. I also have a deviated septum, to the R-side, so consequently greater airflow in the L which is the most affected.
Interestingly I saw a male teenager Pt. yesterday that also experiences frequent anterior nosebleeds. However, he also suffers frequent headaches, cold sores and a recent mild ear infection...amongst other Sxs. According to his case history I feel that the h'aches, nosebleeds and ear infection are likely all linked to sinus related troubles. He is looking like a Nat-m case but I have yet to complete my work-up. In researching other possibilities for what causes frequent nosebleeds etc I came across an article at the eMedicine site that lists, from a medical standpoint, causes of epistaxis that you may find useful. Re the easily haemorrhaging blood vessels perhaps look at the vascular possibilities?
