A general response to the emails concerning essential oils (not directed to any specific post).
Essential oils are powerful. They are excellent tools in 'complementary' medicine and environmentally considerate household cleaning. Unfortunately since they are available (as homeopathic remedies) over the counter at every corner health food store - people think they are safe to use in any way they please. Since good essential oils are so expensive - many sources sell adulterated versions as 'pure'. Both the good quality and adulterated can cause allergic reactions (although most reactions are attributed to the adulterated oils) - just as herbal medicines can - but since they are so concentrated in the production process, the reactions can be more severe. PLEASE if you are interested in using essential oils (aromatherapy) - take a good course. Just as it is a problem relying on a stock clerk of a local health food store for advice on homeopathic remedies - it is equally disturbing to see people rely on their advice for use of essential oils.
