DOGS AND WOLVES

Just to clarify some of the comments made here about dogs not being "wolves"...
It is well known that dogs were domesticated from wolves. Thanks to the advancement in DNA analysis, it has been proven WITHOUT A DOUBT that GENETICALLY, dogs ARE wolves!
For those of you who require scientific verification, in 1993, the official change from Canis Familiaris to Canis Lupis Familiaris was formalized by the publication of the Mammal Species of the World, a Taxonomic and Geographical reference, edited by D.E. Wilson and D.E.A. Reeder, and published by the Smithsonian Institute in association with the American Society of Mammalogists. This reference book, BTW, is the FINAL AUTHORITY of the scientific community on Mammal Classification!
So, I would suggest that you folks with pets revise the SCIENTIFIC data out there, study a little about animal biology and recognize that if in 1993, DNA proved that dogs are genetically equal to wolves, the "theory" that because dogs have been "domesticated" and fed inappropriate diets for many years, Mother Nature STILL KNOWS BEST and we may want to manipulate science as much as we want, but in the end, the fact remains that dogs are wolves, and wolves are carnivores!
