have our colleges been honest with us?

Dear All
After the announcement made by Gabrielle about IHMSC 2007 competition, I contacted my college which I graduated from few years ago and requested them to consider my institutional participation in the competition. But I heard a big No. "We are not participating!"
I thought about the rational of this decision. Obviously the fee can not be the case. 10 pounds (20$) per individual is nothing for the college. In fact, anyone of us has paid thousands of dollars to them and it is certainly not a big deal for a respected college to pay 50 pounds for its 5 top student to prove the higher quality of their education.
Besides, if you open any homeopathic institution website on the net, you will realize the great passion and enthusiasm they have to prove the superior quality of their education. Why on earth then our institute is refusing to participate in such a great international competition with such examination board? Have they been honest with us about their higher quality education, would it have been any hesitation in participation?
So I ask myself, have our colleges been honest with us?
Love
