Medorrhinum was: now inherited miasm
On rereading what Ardavan wrote about Sycosis, it dawned upon me that
if the pus to make the remedy Medorrhinum came from a person having
the real Sycosis , ie a urethritis ( caused possibly by HSV2 ) with
the HPV and he had the warts as well as the pus, then Medorrhinum
would indeed be a sycotic nosode.
Does anybody know how the medorrhinum that we have now was derived or
perhaps is derived? This would mean that different sources would
produce different results .

Hi Suriya,
O.A. Julian wrote for Med:
"The stock is obtained from purulent urethral secretion taken during the
period of discharge from several patients, otherwise healthy and have
not yet been treated by antibiotics or sulfanilamide."
Acute gonorrhea has to be proven (i.e. the existence of Neisseria
gonorrhoeae), according to him.
But of course, nowadays the restrictions for manufacturing nosodes a
very high (e.g. in the European Pharmacopoea, or in the German
homoeopathic Pharmacopoea). It has to be made sure, that no infection
can be transmitted (i.e. samples have to be free from other infectious
diseases like HIV, Hepatitis etc.). Source material at least in Germany
has to be autoclaved etc.
When the first provings were published in 1889, in the IHA Transactions
by Berridge, 56 provers were listed), with the remedy manufactured by
Fincke, Swan.
Best,
Gaby

Neither father or son has the "pus" only the warts.
There are so many types of warts in our rep that I find this very difficult.
The child's worst warts are on the knee (not in the rep) and as I said
started as one big one and has split into three. The one next door has split
into 2. They were very dry on the top and are raised.
I gave Med because it suited him better than Thuja as far as the M and E's
were concerned but it did nothing.

Dear Gaby
This would mean the older preparations were likely to have had the
sycotic non gonooccal urethritis associated with the fig wart diseases

Re: Medorrhinum was: now inherited miasm
Dear Suriya,
this is possible.
And it shows once more, why provings are so essential and why the older
homoeopaths insisted that the same product should be used for treatment
that was used for the proving.
We know so much about Medorrhinum from the proving. But of course we
have no idea, what was contained in the original mother substance. Yet
it worked according to the symptom picture.
BTW: same goes for some of the other nosodes. E.g. for Psorinum, where
we have tons of information:
- even Hering wasn't sure, if the purulent content of the itch-pustule
he used for the proving was caused by the Scabies-mite Sarcoptes
- we have additional info of provings in German, where a scabies -like
eruption, a "very malignant, eating, leprosy-related eruption, covering
especially the lower leg of the patient" caused during trituration a
couple of symptoms, that had the typical psorinum character.
So I think we can be sure, that probably not all and everything that is
written beneath Psorinum was really caused by a Sarcoptes scabiei
eruption, but rather by a couple or similar processes.
Nowadays especially for nosodes, you have to make sure it's only from
the 'one' disease and nothing else is allowed to be there, so you can
more or less be sure what's inside. But a Medorrhinum produced nowadays,
would, in my opinion, better get a reproving as well as most of the
other nosodes.
New methods of preparations and autoclaving might also influence the
symptoms.
Best,
Gaby

Ouch! Would be sooooo interesting--and I would even say soooooo
utterly necessary--to make have a new proving of this new sterile
"version", and see whether the same picture emerges. I'd find it
extremely surprising if an autoclaved (sterile) discharge were to have
a similar proving, or have a similar healing sphere. Has anyone made
that comparison--either with provins or with clinical results?

Hi,
If U R worried only abt warts, pls try,
Mag Sulph 200, one dose bedtime daily till the warts clear.
In few cases it cleared in 2wks., in some it took 2.5 months.
No harm giving it a try.

Hi Shannon,
I had written:
You said:
I've been saying that for a couple of years, that we need reprovings (I
did a posterpresentation at a LIGA congress asome years ago about the
topic: 'Nosodes nowadays = Nosodes of the past??').
Still currently it all depends where you buy your nosodes from. there
are also countries who first potentize the original substance to a C6 or
C9, and the autoclav it.
And of cours the same goes from animal origins. After BSE cases
happened, the manufacturers had to make sure, there was no infectious
agent in the animal products. That is also whay the processes of
manufacturing are getting more and more expensive.
Best,
Gaby

Re: Medorrhinum was: now inherited miasm
Thanks Gaby,
How very odd! So I would assume that *none* of the American or
European pharmacies are now selling (for example) Medorrhinum made in
the original way? Do you know how long ago this became the case?

Re: Medorrhinum was: now inherited miasm
Hi Shannon,
Not odd - just the normal way of changing.
I don't have a current Americann Pharmacopoeia in my hands, so really
can't comment how they are doing it - or how Indian manufacturers do it.
And there are also some pharmacies who have kept old stocks as well, so
always good to inquire.
It's perhaps interesting to note, that probably not every country has a
separate homoeopathic Pharmacopoea. Tehr Gemrans and the French have -
but in other countries this topic may be entirely included in the
'normal' Pharmacopoeoa.
At least in Germany, sterilisation at 121 °C started in 1978 for a
couple of nosodes. In 1998 autoclaving at 133°C was requested.
Does that answer your question?

Gaby
