Minutus

A client has expressed a fear of fish. She woke up one day
and realized that she was terrified of the fish in her aquarium
and she let them starve to death.

Anyone heard of this?

There is ofcourse the Food & Drinks rubric, aversion to fish.
She also does not like to eat fish as a result of the fear.

Dear Roger.....
OK.... hmmmmmm... what was she doing owning a fish tank to begin with? Why did she ever choose to have fish as pets in the first place anyhow? If she had the slightest apprehension of fish BEFORE buying the tank she would have never bought them???? (or did she inherit-was gifted- the tank from someone?)

Or was this a love-hate thing... first she loves the fish (buys and aquarium) then hates them????

Did she begin to fear fish after her chief complaint started? or is that her chief complant itself? What other delusions/ fears /dreams does she have????

So very odd all that. It makes me think that the problem in not with fish per se, but with something else....

Or was she suddenly in a delusional state about the fish? Perhaps it would
make sense to find out nmore about her sudden fear of the aquarium fish --
what it felt like, what occasioned it.... Rosemary

And what about the cruelty of letting the poor fish starve to death?

She says that she just woke up one day afraid of fish.
She feels bad about what she did to them but she
could not bear to be around them.
Thanks for the input I will ask her more about it.
Its interesting the Sepia came up pretty high in the
repertorization but no real keynotes. I am wondering if
another sea creature is possible.

What about the context of the rest of the case--what else was going on
in her life, and what else has changed during the time when she became
afraid of fish? If the fish thing hadn't come up at all, what would
the case look like?

She has had "fibromyalgia" since she was five and Pulsatilla fit
her case pretty well but she is not the passive retiring type.
Pretty feisty, ambitious and mean, perhaps Sepia without the
apathy/aversion to her family.
But I will have to wait til I get out of my vipassana
retreat Dec 10th (www.dhamma.org) before I have time
to give more details.
