Q. Is Oscillococcinum a nosode or a sarcode?
A. Thank you for your interest in homeopathy and Boiron’s homeopathic
medicine Oscillococcinum. Technically Oscillococcinum is considered a
nosode according to the Boiron reference guide.

Q. Is it considered a nosode because the duck is diseased or because
human viruses have been found in the liver and heart or is there
another reason, and if so, what is the reason?
(I'm trying to understand why it isn't a sarcode.)

Q..A week ago I emailed to you asking for additional information and
have not received
a response. Would it be possible for you to check and see what
happened? There are 2,423 of
us (international online group) waiting for additional information.
This is a copy of the questions:
Is it considered a nosode because the duck is diseased or because
human viruses have been found in the liver and heart or is there
another reason, and if so, what is the reason?
(I'm trying to understand why it isn't a sarcode.)

A. . The duck is not diseased; it is raised for human consumption.
Q. I thought Cairina moschata was a wild duck?
Q. Is Oscill. currently prepared from the original 1925 duck stock or
is a new recent duck used?
(I am wondering which strain of influenza virus the duck may harbor.)
A. A new duck is used every year. We do not test to see if/what virus
the duck may/may not harbor.
