Samuel Hahnemann stated that coffee and tea caused a drug disease and
antidoted remedies. He wrote "On The Effects Of Coffee/Treatise on
Coffee" in 1803. Every homeopath or student should read this and think
about it. Coffee, black tea, and green tea all have antibiotic
properties and other drug properties.

Hahnemann allowed smoking, discouraged snuff, ruled out many interesting spices (CD) allowed (during proving) green peas, french beans, boiled potatoes and carrots as the least medicinal of vegetables (Org. 125 footnote), had some mean words to say about asparagus (can't remember where I saw that one) - and would have been the first to say "individualize"! Every patient is different!
Phatak in his MM is very emphatik (sorry it's late...) about Coffee not antidoting remedies. but here again, for some it does, for some it don't...there's just no antidoting some folks...

That was in 1803:-)

In his CD he was somewhat more lenient about it.

Most of his warnings about drugs/foods/beverages were because of the
medicinal properties of those items and the ability to establish a
drug disease or antidote remedies. Hahnemann used beer and smoking
tobacco, but warned against excess. Paul
