Dear Shannon
I will try my best to answer all your points.
Minutus is a Forum.
Some may remember that Ardavan ran a course on Medical Terminology whereby by learning the Latin or Greek root one clearly understood what was being meant by various terms.
So I asked Google to define 'Forum'. Here are are the answers relevant to Minutus:
- An online discussion group, where participants with common interests can exchange open messages.
- A general discussion area for a free exchange of ideas, thoughts, and comments.
- A forum is an arena for communication and sense-making.
- An organization working to create and promote a set of open standard interface specifications that meet user requirements for service continuity based on high availability and enabled by high reliability, repairability, and redundancy.
Although the last one seems to be targeted at the IT/electronics type industry, it has points applicable to medicine / homoeopathy. Focus on the word RELIABILITY.
Forums were also "a large, open area, typically rectangular in shape and surrounded by public buildings, which served as the political, social, and commercial centre of a Roman town. "
Based on that we want to be LARGE and OPEN and we need obviously to have some LIMITS.
In my view, if a point has been mentioned in the Organon, CD or any other of Hn's works or indeed that of his followers, then they can be discussed.
In addition any thing that affects the practise of Medicine, the members and how they practise around the world may also be mentioned.
Additionally, other side topics have been presented as an 'Off Topic' and within reason they are permissible. If colleagues are not interested the thread dies naturally.
Hn was NOT a prophet of God. That means that he was not infallible - He made mistakes and he corrected some of these. He may have made others - it is for us to be aware of these possibilities and always check out the results of the practise of Homoeopathy.
But primarily he taught us to be UNPREJUDICED OBSERVERS. This means that one has to open-mindedly observe what is happening and based on the observations and their results come up with conclusions.
HOWEVER, before jumping up and down and proclaiming that THIS IS THE WAY, we need to evaluate exactly what is happening. An example is the clear understanding of the difference between palliation and cure. Often with palliation the patient is happy and may report so to the homoeopath. And the Homoeopath may be fooled by it. However, their health is going down hill all the time often without any one realising it.
Just look around you, there are some homoeopaths who go down with cancer. They have most probably been receiving homoeopathy from one of their colleagues. So what happened? Why is that under long term homoeopathic treatment they should suffer such symptoms as tumours?
Based on my observations, I think there are those who have made a name for themselves within homoeopathy, they write books and present lectures which are sometimes flawed. Then a few years later they change their mind and write another set of books but NEVER ala Hn put lines across their work and say I was wrong on this point. But in the process as these books / lecture notes are NEVER withdrawn, many a trainee homoeopath will be mislead! (Observation has also taught me that what one is taught incorrectly as a trainee is VERY difficult to erase.)
Not all that glitters is gold!
We are therefore advantaged by having those on this forum who clearly see when someone is misleading others and point this out.
Humblely
