Hand goes to sleep -- odd symptom

Hello List members,

I wonder if anyone met this symptom in his practice or ever read about it:

The patient, a man in his 40's, has this syndrome for the last 30 years, no homeopathic treatment during the last 20 years helped here -

From time to time one of the patient's arms - "goes to sleep" during sleep. BUT the odd thing is this:

If he drinks anything (=water or juice) at night or eats at night anything that contains a high percentage of WATER (like cucumbers etc.) and goes to sleep before all these fluids had the chance to leave his body through his urine - then usually one (or both) of his hands or the whole arm becomes very "numb" during sleep and even paralized (his whole arm "goes to sleep").

When it happens - he then wakes alarmed and frightened, shakes his paralized arm and rubbes it a long time and warms it with a warm air from Hair-fan, untill it slowly comes back to life.

Over the years he was given remedies from the rubric(s) such as "parts lain on go to sleep / numbness" - with no help.

One homeopath told him that he has the "Hydrogenoid" constitution, gave him Nat-sul 9c (mainly 9c for some time, and also a few doses of 30c) one year ago, which only aggravated his condition (one night his left leg was paralized (very numb) during sleep - which made him very anxious), aggravation without help.

His health generally is very good, except for that symptom.

Can anyone gude me how can I help him?

Many thanks.

Rafy

I don't know if this is too prosaic, but I've seen this symptom - although not necessarily with the water modality - helped by forms of touch therapy on the neck, upper back and shoulders. In the case of one patient who received several doses of Staph, I kept her on Sac Lac for a while and sent her for massage or shiatsu, and the problem resolved. Might be worth while checking out the alignment of the spine, especially in view of the leg paralysis aggravation.
The use of the hair dryer implies that the hand gets very cold and numb - could the warmth or warm air amel be useful in prescribing for him?

Hi,
great symptom - just checking that rubrics from Synthesis have been
considered-
WAKING, paralysed feeling with - acon, ferr-i, kreos, nat-c, phos.
EXTREMITIES,Paralysis, sensation of, - a few variations....,
- morning, on waking: acon

An odd connection (and only because it's an odd symptom which has
not yielded to sensible analysis) but, that it's about being
waterlogged, which can be a very plantlike thing to suffer - if
aconite doesn't suit, maybe worth looking at the aconite plant
group, the buttercups, which include - Cimic, Clematis, Helleborus,
Hydrastis, Puls, Ranunculus and Staph.

Gail.

I also came across such cases. But I do Combination of Acupressure,Magnet therapy and Homeopathy. If required touch healing. In this case most probably the fault lies in Cervical region. The alignment between C4 C5 C6 and C7 is disturbed. This alignment is vastly improved by Acupressure and Touch healing.Blood supply is improved by Magnets and Final toning is done by Homeopathy. The usefull remedies are Nux Vomica, Arnica, Rhus Tox, Calcaria Phos.Or the medicine selected by Reperterisation will act successfully.

Dear all,

Just I was researching last night for my "beautiful case" and fell onto Aranea D.

in the course of that Murphy mentions under "clinical" Acroparesthesia. Which, I didn't know the meaning of, so naturally, I looked it up. I found :
"a condition where the patient suffers sharp pains in the arms and numbness in the fingers after sleep"

then I remembered there was this similar topic a while back.

RefWorks came up with these rx's
Acroparesthesia (14): 3Aran., 2aza., 2des-ac., 2thal., asar., beryl., foll., hipp., hydro-c., kres., prot., rhus-t., thala., thiop.

this may be helpful the person who was trying to solve it.
Sincerely,

Hi,

Thank you all for all the helpful and kind advice.

This person decided to do some exercise with his arms, and it seems to help him.

Regards
