Hi
I am here on H4, dependant visa. Is there anybody who know how to
practice Homeopathy in USA?

I know I can not work on H4. So I am wondering what all needs to be
done so as to start working in USA as Homeopath.

Thanks a lot
Harsha

Hi Harsha,
Guidelines for practicing in the US, well, there's not much... In some
(only a few) states homeopaths are "licensed" *if* the practitioner has
an appropriate *other* license, e.g. in a few states naturapaths are
"licensed" to practice homeopathy as well, and maybe chiropractors? I
was hoping someone else would answer, who's in better possession of the
details... Also of course MDs can practice it "legally".

But the vast majority of homeopaths in the US are practicing in a sort
of legal gray area. Although some of the schools offer "certificates",
these are meaningful pretty much only within the homeopathic community
itself, and don't carry any "legal" weight. If one does not have a
license to "practice medicine" in some way, shape or form, then as a
homeopath one must be very careful not to cross over the "practicing
medicine" line. We (unlicensed homeopaths) can work with clients and
"prescribe" (or rather, "suggest") remedies, so long as we make it
clear that we are not "medically licensed" and "cannot diagnose or
treat any disease"; and must tell the client that if they have any
"medical condition" then it is their responsibility to seek
"appropriate medical care".

However, all that said, it is rare for any homeopath to run into
problems. (Tho Dana Ullman is an example of the fact that it does
*sometimes* happen--I'm suddenly wishing I knew just what *had*
happened to make switch from practicing homeopathy to the education and
bookselling ends instead!)

Well, I hope this doesn't scare you off of it... Want to describe your
situation further? Maybe there's more specific feedback that you'd
find helpful?
Best wishes,
Shannon

Thanks a lot Shannon

This was indeed very good information. I agree to most of your suggestions.

I was also looking for way to work in USA legally as now I can not because I
am on H4 Visa. So I was looking for some clinic or group of doctors
practicing Homeopathy to offer to me H1 sponsorship. In this direction I was
looking for information like who practices Homoepathy here and how and which
all areas it more practiced. Also if somebody knows any firm or organisation
which works for homeopathy.

Thanks a lot. Your information is really useful
