Hi,

I guess that the Medical Associations can't beat us the simple way
(outright) so they create inroads on
our profession saying that it is in our interest (should add those
words"trust me, I'm a doctor") to be legitimised
through processes administered by Gov't departments being advised by
their own good selves as to our appropriateness!!
and by the way, shouldn't we really all be allopathic doctors first
before being released on the suffering masses. I mean we could actually
cure someone without being a doctor!!

They have strayed far from their origins- healing's not the deal, the
money is ... (Hippocrates could power LA by himself)

An excellent proposal for med students is to first do the homeopathic
training ..then the traditional medicine track... perhaps
we would generate doctors whose first instincts would be to treat the
whole person homeopathically...then if necessary resort to intervention
as a final choice for appropriate situations, monitoring and supporting
healing throughout the patient's time of need. Realistically, I do not
feel they would be prepared to sit back and go through the traditional
syllabus given their previous training without having strong feelings
about what they are told.

I guess there's just gonna have to be a revolution

Hi Tanya,

just thought it was interesting that the way we treat patients as
homeopaths, and the way allopaths treat patients could
be taken to be analogous to the essentially Female/ Male divide in
approach to just about everything in life...
where these allopathic guys just want to action everything to get some
instant 'result', to feel as if something is being done.
Even when there is no appropriate action to take (thus the figure of
85-90% of all operations being experimental and the amount of pills
written up) rather than absorb the problems of the case and sit and
think before taking action. There also is a very strongly entrenched
patriarchy within the field of conventional medicine.
Homeopaths definitely take the approach a mother would take to
adjudicate the complexities of a child's playground complaints,
listening, observing and looking for alternative interpretations from
surrounding context before even uttering a word... thinks upon it, then
finally after
weighing everything up gives up her advice/ admonishment. There is no
hurry to reach some goal post and the knock-on effects of results are
considered especially emotional and mental upon the child.This approach
could account for all the ladies practicing and taking up homeopathy...
it's kind of natural to them

p.s. it's like we are re-living the early history ... whereas now
preventative -ectomies are the rage, mass vaccination programs are
creating apathy and damage in the general public, discrediting
alternative practioners is the common sport amongst the established etc.
etc.

I was just recalling a small book called Flat Earth Medicine by Timothy Dooley, ND, MD. For those not familiar with this book, it is an introduction to homeopathy for the lay person. He talks of his experience as a naturopath and his love for homeopathy. But then says he decided to go to medical school to see "if i was missing something." After classroom training and traditional residency work, he says something was missing and it wasnt him. He found no underlying basis or perspective in treating patients, no appreciation for the body's ability to heal itself and that "patients were treated as broken biochemical machines." He returned to naturopathy and homeopathy. But he did note the way the medical establishment, including students, viewed holistic practices--as less than legitimate and they would invalidate anyone speaking about such practice or theory.

Just thought this an interesting piece of experience that bridges two opposing experiences.
