ionspa/aqua chi

Post by myirishenergy »

These two machines - the ionspa and aqua chi - balance the acid/
alkaline in your body thus helping it with a host of health issues.
You have to use it all the time in order for the effects to take hold
just like taking Vitamins.
Since it's Palliation, I'd like to know if it would be consider
suppression.
any ideas?
Emily

Hi Emily,
Suppression and palliation are different!
Palliation can "look like" suppression, in that it is the nature of a
chronic imbalance to progress (worsen) over time, and so if the therapy
is not acting curatively, then it is allowing the imbalance to worsen.
enough level, in which case the difference would be, as you say,
whether or not you need to keep doing it indefinitely, in order to
maintain improvement.
*causing* the condition to worsen (in other words, to worsen more or
faster than it would have anyway).
rearrange symptoms in a way that could make it hard to say whether it's
being curative or suppressive or palliative; that judgment would have
to be made over time, by evaluating the new situation as a whole.

But thinking about the two machines--is aqua chi the one where you lie
on floor with feet on machine, and it gently swings your legs back and
forth to aid oxygenation? What's ionspa, and how is the effect
supposed to work?
Best,
Shannon

This portion of the response is 'offtopic' since it is about vitamins. Vitamins should not be lumped with machines in terms of health or healing - or with ANY form of palliation or suppression. Vitamins and minerals are essential to cellular and metabolic health. If we do not get them through foods (and there is great argument if they even exist in appropriate forms or quantities in today's food) then supplementation is an important consideration. Providing the basic building blocks of cellular life is not palliation or suppression and yes, their intake must be continued for life to continue - so one 'treatment' is insufficient. Is one meal sufficient for life? Choosing the appropriate form, amount, and dosing schedule of supplements for an individual is as complex as choosing homeopathic remedies.

As to the various 'machines' - while there are many frauds out there, there are a few interesting machines that seem to accelerate removal of toxic wastes. If they truly aid the body in performing a normal biologic function of waste removal - then they are simply temporary assists to the system. They do not address the original and most important question of how the toxins came to be in the body (bad food, environmental exposure, etc.) or the body's inability to remove those toxins during or after the buildup (poor bowel condition/habits, poorly functioning liver, kidneys, etc.). So while they do not contribute to understanding the basic problem, or preventing it's re-occurrence, or address healing as homeopathic remedies could, it would seem some could be considered to be 'supportive' to the body, similar to Epsom salts baths, drinking pure water, massage, etc.

Hi Donna,
I basically agree with you, and am a big "fan" and person user (at
times) of vitamins, but there is this quibble... When vitamins are
made synthetically, and even when "natural" vitamins are isolated from
their co-factors and recombined in highly concentrated amounts and/or
unnatural proportions (e.g. 50 mg of "everything", gag), they most
definitely can cause more problems than they are solving. If you take
large amounts of certain nutrients but are not taking a proper balance
of co-factors, you can create "artificial deficiency" of those
co-factors--I'm sure you're familiar with that issue, but some might
not be. So it can be important to know *why* you are taking the
vitamins, and have some way to check that you're taking an
appropriately balanced mix.

My other quibble is from my own experience that, generally speaking,
when I have been "on a good remedy", I generally haven't needed any
other herbs or vitamins at all. I assume this too is an individual
thing, and partly reflects the fact that my diet is quite unusually
good for an American's. :-) But--the vitamins that I do take, I
know what I am expecting them to do; but in my experience this is not
necessarily the case, and that's a shame, IMO!
Best wishes,
Shannon
