atypical psoriasis case

Not sure if it comes through . She did say that she isn't very good
with
change. The only way the psoriasis bothers her is cosmetically. I
suppose I
should have gone into that more but if you had seen the state of it
it would
bother anyone cosmetically I reckon!! She was wearing a long skirt
to cover
up the lesions on her legs but short sleeve t shirt where the
problem wasn't
so bad.

I have sent you the photo of her leg. There were no acutes or
trauma's in
this woman's case history. This is about all I have to work on!! :-)

"I try to do too much in the time I've set. I set myself unrealistic
targets. I feel if I have time I should be doing something with it.
I can't
just sit. I have to do things the best I can do them which is
unrealistic
sometimes. My partner says I am a cup ½ empty people because
professionally
people think I am a confident person but underneath I'm not. I am
like this
so I won't be let down and I would be able to say worst things could
happen."
"I am probably a worrier for deadlines and things. One child has
left home.
I can't live their lives for them. I want them to do the right
things. I
worry about the children". (Tears- I asked why - "it is when you
unpick
yourself.")
Later she said re crying.

- "It is because I am talking about myself and have never taken the
time to
stop and think about myself. You think you are all things to all
people and
lose sight of yourself."
She loves to watch thunderstorms but none of the 5 Rx in that rubric
grabbed
me.

"I quite like them and will actively go and watch them. I find them
breath
taking with a sense of an overwhelming power greater than us."
She is claustrophobic in crowds. She will go in a lift but not if
there are
a lot of people in it but not underground and no (before you ask!!)
I
didn't ask why!!!!.
Thanks

Hi Rochelle,
I would not call this one-sided! Questions below:
Why, and how? What sorts of changes cause what sorts of reactions?
What is the feeling (anxiety, guilt, worry, restlessness...)?
If she tries to "just sit" what comes up?
If she tries to set herself *realistic* targets, what happens--she
knows she is unrealistic, what prevents her from scaling back?
I don't understand this... Doing one's "best" isn't unrealistic, but
does she mean that she spends more time than she should on things that
don't warrant it, or ?? (Why? What's the feeling? What would happen
if she didn't, etc.?)

(Is "conscientious about trifles" a possible rubric? Or maybe that's
not really in the case...)
This seems significant to me... Maybe ask her to describe the feeling
of "being let down", and the feeling of being "like this so I won't be
let down", see if she can think of the first times those feelings came
up, see if you can find the root?

Will Taylor describes a way of "sorting" symptoms that I like:
Stimulus (what are they sensitive to?)
"Distorted moment of choice", basically same as(?) Sankaran's "core
delusion"--the underlying feeling that "colors" and informs their
choices; and
Response--What do they do, how do they express?

E.g.: What is she sensitive to; what things push her buttons, set her
off, make her cringe, whatever (criticism? responsibility?

It certainly sounds like she has a "delusion" about expecting to be let
down... Where does that come from?
?? So you know what that meant?

Later she said re crying.

Which rubric? Looking at "Sadness... thunderstorm amel (bell-p, carc,
sep) and Thunderstorm, amel during (carc, lyc, rhus-r, sep)
To me this all sounds *soooooooo* much like Carc!! Did you try or look
at that?

A few questions (and thanks for the case notes).

Do you know what the skin eruptions would look like if there was no use
of steroid creams etc, and how bad c an it actually get?

What might have been going on at 14 apart from the start of menses? You
could use menses <<< as a rubric.

Why are her periods heavy now for past 6 months and what is the sickly
and panicky issues about that accompany the menses.

With all her worrying nature would you say she was a nervous sort, and
being so hard on herself with all these targets is she a restless type
as well?

I don't want to mention her job but I imagine she is intelligent but do
you have anything on levels of concentration, memory quality and
whether she gets worn out by a lot of mental work.

I am also interested in the "when you unpick yourself' comment and what
it mights mean. Many thanks, Joy

Dear Shannon,

I will try to answer your queries within the post. I hope you can fid my
answers.
From: "Robert & Shannon Nelson" .

She said she had been upset about all the building changes that have been
done in the house as "I don't like my surroundings being changed." Good
question about what sort of reactions. I will ask.

She says the feeling above- that she should be doing something - but I will
ask why!!!

Again I will ask.

I don't know - again i will ask :-)

The way I looked at it I wondered if it could be an Aurum feeling- the way
they can push themselves and are never satisfied with what they do.

Have you been to a lot of Sankaran lectures lately:-)

Criticism is something else I forgot to ask about.

I will ask!!!

"I am probably a worrier for deadlines and things. One child has
?? So you know what that meant?>>

I reckoned that she had never talked about herself before.

The latter and there should be Phos there!!!

There is absolutely nothing in her Family History or Family Medical History
to suggest Carc. I asked about picking up on people's feelings and she
reckoned she didn't. Where do you see Carc other than the Thunderstorms
bit? She is tidy but not fastidious.

Thanks Shannon for making me think.

Dear Joy,

Thanks for your reply. I will try to answer your questions within the post.

Thanks for the answers.

Actually I don't see this as a one sided case at all although I would
agree there isn't a great deal to go on - she appears in many ways to
be healthy, happy but with a tendency to pile on the guilt and over
work syndrome. But that is now and the case started a long time ago.

Here's my little offering -

I took the sensation on the skin as though wallpaper paste stuck on it
as being quite strange and very characteristic and used the 'skin,
tension, as if egg white on it' rubric to cover this and there are a
couple of rx in that rubric which I quite like. One is Mag carb with
it's level of anxiety, worry, trying to keep things together like all
the magnesiums do - wanting to soothe and especially on the skin and
mucous membranes. Needs sleep, talks in sleep, dreams of houses and
getting lost (not quite what you wrote though but maybe comparable),
psoriasis affinity.

The second rx is a bit of a wild card, but I like them sometimes and
that is Lecithin. She sounded quite phosphoric with the storm
appreciation, sociability, caring and lecithin is a 'phosphorus
containing complex organic body'. Being from the yolk of an egg I liked
the way she described herself as having a soft centre but tries to
appear as if she has a hard outer appearance. So this rx is about
nutrition and nurture but they are restless and nervous (she's a
worrier) and they don't like to ponder on things too much as it makes
them sad. They are fearful as well, this is part of the anxiety. They
have a show of emotions when in company, very excitable, not sure if
this is equal to being claustrophobic in crowds. I am also not sure of
the skin conditions of this rx - maybe yourself or someone else could
shed light on that but it does have the sensation as if egg white over
the skin that gives that feeling of tightness. Related to Phosphorus.

The last rx is also a wild card entry and that is Erythrinus - fish rx
(she loves fish). Little known about this rx but the eruptions are
allergic like reactions to fish - she >> being near the sea and >>
bathing salt water and it is a specific for certain skin conditions
such as pityriasis rubra and you might like the fact that Aurum
muriaticum is the complementary rx to it (as you were beginning to
think about the Aurum family - muriacticum might seem to suit her
softer nature than the metal).

Hope useful, best wsihes, Joy

Thank you very much for your suggestions which I will study. I had thought
of Mag Carb but hadn't got around to looking at it. The other 2 I know
nothing about and will enjoy looking them up. As usual I will let the group
know what I decide on and what happens. Thanks for the rubric - "like egg
white" as I used skin - tightness. However I can't find that rubric at all -
I even did a search (computer) on Roberts Sensations as If. If this is a
rubric from Synthesis could you please send it to me + the remedies in it
and I will insert it into my computer programme

I only know how to find it in Kent and you should try skin, tension,
then the sub rubric egg white (I think the cobweb sensation is in there
as well - can't check as I am a way from my books). It will definitely
be under Robert's SAI but try it under the face section first - just
because it is the face wouldn't preclude it from other locations. Can't
suggest more until I get back to books but I am sure someone else would
give all the rx for you. I can remember Bar carb and possibly Caladium.

One other thing about Erythrinus is that Burnett thought the eruption
resembled a reaction to eating the fish but then it became chronic and
resembled a syphilitic taint (hence the Aurum mur being complementary).

She must have had dome kind of acutes in her life but if she really
hasn't then suppression of the meds and possible indication to Carc
might come into play. Be wary of potency for whatever you decide as
when she weans herself away from the steroids the skin could get really
bad for awhile. I am not telling YOU that but others who might be
learning about treating serious and deep seated skin conditions. Enjoy
the sunshine. Best, Joy

Dear Joy,

I will find it in Kent - no problem and then transfer it to my computer. I
find it strange that there should be a Rx in Kent which is not in RU!!
BTW - the sun might be out but it is sooo cold still!!!
