*tinctures for bites

Hi Rochelle
I think you are missing my point here. 1x's are of course available from all
homeopathic pharmacies and are *potentised remedies*, with no direct
comparison to the herbalists' remedies. They are the first stage of the
potentisation process that takes us up to CM, MM etc. and involve
succussion.
Mother tinctures, on the other hand are not potentised and it is possible to
make various comparisons.
The homeopathic manufacturing pharmacies have these for all herbal remedies,
poisonous or not, but will not sell you the more toxic ones as MTs.
When you rang , Helios may have said that the strength of their tinctures
was equivalent to 1 in 10 ( I doubt they said they were all 1x's - at least
John Morgan wouldn't have). Since then large scale retail outlets like
Helios have had to knuckle down to EU directives on manufacture of
homeopathic medicines and follow one of two set protocols (at least this is
how I understand it). The French process still lands you with a product
broadly equivalent to a herbalist's 1 in 10 dilution, but the German one
gives you something like 1 in 2 or 3 depending on the plant. There are
individual variations. The German monographs seems to be preferred by UK
pharmacies.
Arguably, there may be other differences between MTs and herbal tinctures
but I was really just picking up on the statement about MT strength and
1x's. Things have changed.

Hi Teresa,
I actually phoned Helios where I buy my Rx and asked!!! They admitted that
their tinctures were 1x and that is why they were clear (my herbal ones can
sometimes be murky from the herbs) and a paler colour than my herbal ones.
However I also remember them saying they were wondering about making them
"proper" MTs. However while I can buy 1/2 litre of a herbal tincture for the
same price as 10ml of homeopathic MT I will continue to use the herbal
ones!!
