I have been diagnosed bi-polar, w/ obsessive thought disorddr, and post
tramatic syndrome etc.....
I am easily irritated and highly stressed. I have always had an
interested in natural healing and have been trying to cure candida and
a respiatory problem on my own... seems to be helping I constanly clear
my throat and have clear mucus in my chest. Also I would really
like to taper off my psychtropics and go to strictly homepathic,
however I'm confussed as it is stated that one should take only one
remedy. I have been taking natrum sulphuricum and sephia seems to not
only help the respiratory problem but is helping with my disposition as
well. As I research further it seemed that Aurum Metallicum may be the
one remendy for me. I called a long distanse homeopath and they wanted
$200.00, I simply do not have it I make a low income and am raising a
child alone. Can someone help me with a cheaper homeopath ( I have
insurance) or a good book or maybe you could help diagnose me. Please
help I would appreciate it deeply.

I suggest that you find yourself a local professional homeopath who should be a lot cheaper than what the long distance one wants to charge. Where do you live. Someone may be able to recommend a homeopath to you. You should not be treating yourself. Even homeopaths go to another homeopath to be treated!!

Actually $200 for a first consult is quite reasonable...
But if a good local person is available that might be best for many
reasons--and some have a "sliding scale" for people who need it--it is
worth asking!

Dear Rochelle and Everyone,

I am certainly not writing this in an argumentative mood, quite the
opposite - let that be perfectly clear. :)

I just want to say that homeopaths in the UK and possibly the USA,
too, probably cannot imagine just HOW difficult, even impossible, can
it be elsewhere - even in the (well) "developed world"! - to find a
good homeopath. There are places where homoeopathy is effectively (if
not theoretically - though that too exists!) banned. And then there
are countries where the choice of homoeopathic treatment is extremely
reduced because only physicians (MD) can practice homoeopathy - BUT
only under very severe restrictions. And so on, and so on...

In short: finding a "local professional homoeopath" (let alone a good
one!) is unattainable for far too many people around the world -
including our dear old (and oh-so-progressive) Europe. That is a fact;
and a very sad one.

I don't know what can be done to overcome this situation, except to
keep spreading the word. But for millions of ill people will be too
late, of course.

Therefore, I suggest - not (only) to this group per se, but in
general, of course - that many many more good homoeopaths consider a
(partial) "pro bono" practice: offering highly professional advice for
a very reduced price or free of charge to people who simply cannot
afford it.

I don't think anyone would go bankrupt..:)
And homoeopathy as a whole would certainly benefit from it.

All the best,

Arista

And in reply to what you have written below (I am also not intending to be argumentative) but there are many homeopaths especially in UK where there is a free National Health Service who are struggling to make a living and have given up well paid careers to pursue homeopathy. What you see in a low cost clinic are patients rolling up in 4x4 vehicles. Unfortunately it is the middle classes who tend to know about homeopathy rather than the low income brigade. People choose how to spend their money- and often it is on named brand clothes and cigarettes which are a higher priority than paying out for a homeopath.

I do agree that in Europe ( as opposed to UK!!!) it is far more difficult to find a classical homeopath in fact near impossible and those that there are may have restrictions in what potencies they are allowed to prescribe. I believe in France they can't prescribe nosodes either.

However I believe - and I stress that this is my opinion- that it is far better to see a homeopath in person than by a distance method such as email. I personally get so much information in body language, gestures, tone of voice etc from having the person in front of me and will not prescribe by email unless I have met the person for at least the initial consultation.

Shannon made me laugh suggesting that $200 was a reasonable fee. In UK we charge around 1/2 of that for an initial consultation. No wonder homeopaths in USA are able to make a living. But there, like in Ireland - where I was last weekend for the Homeopathic Conference- people are used to paying for their medical care.

Unfortunately here is no local homeopath she listed locally however she is
in Kentucky not Tennessee. and $200.00 to me is like $2000.00 to someone
else. I certainly thank-you for the replies and I will keep searching.
Sincerely,
Donna

I make $23,000 a year, I drive a 1996 Toyota w/140,000 miles on it, I am
raising a 16 year old daughter, I don't smoke and I wear cheap clothes as
does she. I can read and research. I am low-income not ignorant. I had to
reach out to a long-distance phone call homeopath as they are none in my
town. I cannot afford healthy healthcare, only where insurance will let you
go and they are pill happy. I would love to see a homeopathic or a
chiropractor, but my insurance premiums take quite a bit of money, people of
a higher income brigade do not understand.................I am also not
intending to be argumentative. This world seems to be as mean and uncaring
as the traditional medical world.
