Dear Group,
This may seem dumb, but still here it goes..

I was/am feeding stray dogs and naturally their illnesses, affectations
touch some nerve in me and I go out and help besides just feeding. This
happened four days ago.

A family of a she dog plus her four pups were mauled by a(supposedly) rabid
dog and except the mother and one pup everything died by the brutal force of
the bite. I gave the pup ledum pal 30 in water and also it had problems in
swallowing due to the bite (exactly at the neck and face / throat). So
neother the mother nor me could feed the pup. Slowly it declined and when I
last saw it was in the last stages and I hope by the time I finish this it
would have passes away. My bell prescription last night did not work.

Now, to my qn: Though I did not touch the pup, I handled with a cotton
glove since a plastic one was not nearby. Once I felt like it slightly
licked my palm. Will a lick propogate the infection (if at all the pup had
it ?) ?If the pup had it and the possibility of an infection is there ,
should I take a prophylactic ?Anyone with experience ?

Or, (Sheri, please don't scold) can I take a vaccination ?

Why would need or want a vaccination? It appears that you think that they
give immunity
They do not. They give chronic illness.

If you believe what they say about rabies it is only from a bite, not a lick.

Surely Sheri you could have thoughts of prescribing and assisting
with the state presented. I do not think denial of danger is helpful.

why not a dose of Lyssin and a remedy to match your sympathetic
caring and love for animals or maybe even Aconite for fear of what

From what I am reading, I do not think you need to worry. Here's what

So--it looks to me like you don't need to worry!
But--what are you going to do about the mother... Can she be confined
for (gulp) one to three months to see whether she has become infected?
And what to prescribe for her... There's the rubric "Mind,
hydrophobia", with 69 remedies, but I guess you'd have to read a whole
lot to ascertain whether it means "fear of water" or rabies! Darned
ambiguous rubrics... But the fact that it is in the Mind section seems
suspicious...

Then there's the rubric: "Mind, hydrophobia, after being bitten:
Lyssin"--but I would still not want to let her go unconfined, since we
don't really have a historical record of reliable rabies prophylaxis,
don't know what potency and repetition would be needed, or the rate of
effectiveness...

and how does any one get it?

In this instance I will definitely advice going for vaccination if
there is a bite, but just a lick I am not sure. Look for skin breaks.
Defensively I would advise going for it since most other pups are dead...

On second thoughts- I have a bunch of questions:

We have been talking in the abstract about infections and viruses.

of us can join in rocking the boat like you said...and end up wherever
we end up doing that (and if you listen carefully you can hear my
mind opening with a small screech...)

1) What is rabies and how do we get it?
2) How does a dog / wild animals get it?
3) Is the mechanism biochemic or what?
4) Is the disease of the humans the same as that in animals?\
5) How does it spread after a rabid dog bite to humans? Or does it not?
6) When do we start treating the person if he is bitten by a known
case of rabies?
7) How long do we wait?
8) What do we give? Of course people have fear and may be one of the
fear remedies might work- if there is no fear - for example when the
rabid dog is a little pup - what do we do?
Give the constitutional? Since at that time the patient does not have
any active rabid symptoms what would be the next step...Let us say at
this time the patient does not have any chronic complaints either.

9)If the patient starts showing active rabid symptoms - is quarantine
necessary or not?

10)I have seen 2 homeopaths die after taking Lyssin after a dog bite-
they were not protected by it. They did not follow 6th edition and
that might be the reason - they followed the 4th and took dry doses of
200 th potency. One of them I knew very well and know him for an
excellent homeopath. I have also worked in a rabies ward as a medical
doctor and poison or not I will always advise my patients to go for a
course of vaccination - because I have seen the way the untreated
people die horribly.

Of course I am willing to be convinced that there might be alternative
approaches in homeopathy that are more effective and treat the
disease even after it develops and produces symptoms for us to
prescribe on.

I don't see why just one person should answer you questions so I would
suggest people read Allen's MM of the Nosodes as an introduction to so
called rabies, Lyssin, Hydrophobinum, saliva of a rabid dog. By the
way, even if you opt for Pasteur's position on this he found that
chickens were immune to it (ho hum, apparently it comes down to body
temperature and chickens are too cold).

A little taster -

Introduced and proved by Hering in 1833, fifty years before the crude
experiments of Pasteur with the serum. The toxic or non-toxic property
of animal saliva has long been a question of scientific discussion.
Trevinarus found that the human saliva became red by the addition of
tincture of iron; and Gmelin discovered that this colour was caused by
Sulpho-cyanate. The question in dispute appeared to be that Cyanic
acid, being a POISON, Sulpho-cyanate also must be one, and of course
its combination with alkalies, and being poisons, they could not be in
the saliva. Years before this discovery. Oken had declared that "saliva
is a poison". But the discoveries of Leibig and other chemists have
demonstrated that Sulpho-cyanic acid is to be found in sheep, dogs, and
many other animals.

The experiments of Bernard and others in Virchow's Archives, 1858, have
deiced that Sulpho-cyanate of potash found in the saliva of animals
acts as a poison under certain conditions. Bernard considered that it
acted only by application to cellular tissue. etc etc (great book and a
must read for all, imo)

So is it now a discussion about poisons, specifically Sulpho-cyanides?

And why on earth should a prophylactic for, or a potential simillimum
be, Lyssin for alleged rabies - this is back to Isopathy (aka bad
homeopathy). Joy
