I've found that often giving a constitutional for the first time or after a break close to the start of a period is enough to make the period start early, and sometimes if there's an aggravation it gets tangled up in the symptoms of the period. If a patient has already taken a constitutional several times and the period symptoms are part of what needs to be cured, then I will definitely give the constitutional again during the period as needed.
To me, this subject also connects up to the issue of time of day, giving a remedy at new moon or full moon etc. I know there are homeopaths who have a lot of experience with this, and that sometimes as the individual patient has times of increased susceptibility to disease at differing stages of the month (men and women) or different times of day, patients can have different levels of "open-ness" to remedies at different times. Does anyone know more about this?
