New Definitions of Miasms - Psora, Sycosis,...

Dear David and colleagues
I want to clarify something.
I am not fighting with the terms and concepts of 'Psora' and 'Sycosis'. When I cannot define the specific chronic miasm of a patient according to current known infectious 'states', I still use the 'Psora' model. Like you, I do not want to forget the traditional terms of Psora and Sycosis before introdcution of a new mature system of categorization. But, studying the chronic infectious patterns according to our current knowledge of infectious diseases is helping me to increase the efficacy of the treatments and choosing a better simillimum in many cases.
I am preparing a new miasmatic repertory and something like materia medica for infectious states (You can call it Materia Virosa! - MV) to help homeopaths find out the miasmatic Genus of their patients. It took a long time for me to gather the crude data. At the time being, all the viral and prion states are ready and I will publish them on my website gradually. The first important group, Herpesviridea, including EBV, HSV-1, HSV-2, CMV, VZV, HHV-6, HHV-7, HHV-8 and Herpes Virus B (SHBV) will be published tomorrow.
When in a phenomenological way, you find out that the patient is, for example, showing activated phase of HSV-1 miasm, you can choose the simillimum between the HSV-1 antimiasmatic remedies which suits the totality of the symptoms of the patient. Exactly the way we work with Psora model to choose the antipsoric remedy. As an example, I have seen 'some' of the patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis had had severe flare-ups of herpetic eruptions on face and herpes labialis before the MS attack began. Usually after the begining of MS attacks, herpetic eruptions disappear from their skin. You can confirm the link between HSV-1 and their neurological affections with this new repertory and MV. If it is confirmed, then you choose the simillimum among Anti-HSV-1 remedies. Not all of the MS patients are suffering from HSV-1 miasm. Some of them are suffering from other Herpesviridea of other families. The new tool helps us to individualize the underlying miasmatic structure of
the patient and to see 'What is to be cured in diseases' to choose the correct simillimum among the antimiasmatic remedies.
After analysis of deep acting viruses, such as Herpersviridea which are DNA viruses capable of integrating their genome to hosts's genome, I was really excited. If you sum up all the remedies coming up in each individual miasm, you will see that the remedies are all deep acting remedies mostly present in the proposed list of Father of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann!! He was really a great observer. But the new individualization of natural diseases which their limited lists of antimiasmatic remedies, help you to find the simillimum in an easier way. I am sure he was greatly interested in the knowledge of the currently known natural diseases, if he were alive today. (Please have a look at 3rd aphorism of Organon again).
I again say that this is just the begining of this great project and we should not abandon our father's teachings before becoming mature in our new findings. Actually it is not a matter of abandoning, it is just editting.
With all the best wishes,
Ardavan

Dear Ardavan,

You have my support in your work. Just because I make a few cautions
or suggest using the methodology of the group cases to decide certain
relationships does not mean that we are not thinking in a similar fashion.
I have also been looking at similar factors. For example, I have done a
larger study of chronic hepatitis with the add of modern books and the
group anamnesis. In this way I have found a group of genus remedies.
I have been studying this group and the terrain they thrive in for some
time also. I look forward to the publication of your research. This will
give me a good idea of your approach to new miasms.
Yes, this is all very interesting. I have looked at this group.
I agree that we need to look at modern epidemiology with a homoeopathic
eye. I am sure that if Hahnemann was alive today he would be doing similar
work. A group case of this family would also add more symptoms.
There are those who might think we are having a disagreement but I see it
as like minded homoeopaths trying to help each other's research.

Best wishes,
David Little

Dear Ardavan, I am very much looking forward to reading these and I
much admire the time and commitment you have given to this. It will be
exciting to read.

My main concern is that there is a growing trend for many homeopaths
(both students and the more experienced) to go for the 'short cut', for
example repping disease names; deciding on the miasmatic influence and
selecting the simillimum from this; deciding on group such as plant,
mineral, animal without repping first, (and dare I say it opting for PC
remedies according to GE).

None of us want to make our job harder but so many mistakes can be made
if the decisions are made too early or erroneously and we get stuck in
an inappropriate choice of miasmatic influence, wasting a lot of time
for the client. I think it also brings into question a homeopath's
knowledge (or lack) of pathology and medical history and its
implications - many homeopaths are not well versed or trained in this.

Perhaps I am speaking too early without having read what you have to
offer but I am wondering how 'individual' this approach will be. I am
all for discovering what the underlying miasmatic influence of each
individual is but only AFTER a more conventional case taking, always
feeling wary of making a decision about miasm too soon. Best wishes,
Joy

Dear Joy,
I understand your concerns. But unfortunately such short-cuts can be formed in any school of homeopathy despite the intention of the system.
Warm regards,
Ardavan
