Condylomata Acuminata or Lata

Dear Colleagues,
Following excerpts are from CD and Harrison. Let me read them to find
that what Hahneman is talking about is Condylomata acuminata or C. Lata?
Hahnemann's CD:
These excrescences usually first manifest themselves on the genitals,
and appear usually, but not always, attended with a sort of gonorrhoea *
from the urethra, several days or several weeks, even many weeks after
infection through coition; more rarely they appear dry and like warts,
more frequently soft, spongy, emitting a specifically fetid fluid
(sweetish and almost like herring-brine), bleeding easily, and in the
form of a coxcomb or a cauliflower (brassica botrytes). These, with
males, sprout forth on the glands and on, or below, the prepuce, but
with women, on the parts surrounding the pudenda; and the pudenda
themselves, which are then swollen, are covered often by a great number
of them.
Harrison's principles of internal medicine and E-medicine:
Codylomata acuminata:
These lesions are generally not painful, but they can be associated with
pruritus.Bleeding can be observed if the lesions become confluent and
are irritated by clothing. On gross inspection, typical condyloma is
usually a discrete papillary growth that arises from a single
stalk.Condyloma acuminata can involve a large area in a sessile
fashion.Subclinical infection is another common presentation of
condyloma. Tiny, slightly raised areas can be felt or visualized on the
vagina or cervix.
In men, Condylomata are found most frequently at the frenum or coronal
sulcus, but they may affect any part of thr penis.
In women, warts appear first at the posterior introitus and adjacent
labia. They then spread to other parst of the vulva and commonly involve
the perinum and anus.
Condylomata Lata:
In warm, moist, intertriginous areas, including the perianal area,
vulva, scroutm, inner thights, axillae, and the skin under pendulous
breasts, PAPULES enlarge and become ERODED to produce broad, moist, pink
or gray-white, highly infectious lessions called Condylomata Lata, which
are seen in 10 persent of patient with secondary syphilis.
I must add that in Habif Cilinical Dermatology for Condylomata Acuminata
several forms have been mentioned.
Kind Regards,
Nader
