Minutus

I'm looking for a remedy for someone who's very thin and very warm - clear heat aggravates. There's drug over-use in the past, sense of dissasociation, and current dependence on anti-depressants. A strong tendency to ascetism, partly through belief, partly through masochism and "self-flagellation". My first thoughts on seeing him were tub and cann-i. He told me that Lyc had helped him greatly in the past.
I gave cann-i, which moved him somewhat but not enough. I then gave Lyc, which apart from some aggravation doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. I was thinking also in the direction of a "hot veratrum". Arb-m looked interesting on the drug abuse, but seemed too locked into one specific element of the case and not broad enough.
He's taking Venlafaxine, and really wants to get off it. A lot of the physical symptoms could be side effects, as he's been taking this medication for a long time.
Any ideas?

I don't know about the rest of the case, but very thin and very warm makes
me wonder about Iodum or one of the iodatums. Tubercular miasm????

mental self-flagellation?

Can he describe the reason for the asceticism (and could you describe
how it manifests)?

I have been wondering about that - but there don't seem to be many other pointers in the physicals. I think it's also under "lack of reaction" - but there was some reaction to Cann-I, just not strong enough, not felt much by the patient but more observed by those around him.

Mental/emotional self-flagellation. Asceticism - withdrawal or minimization of physical requirements/existence. e.g. celibacy (low libido), not eating foods he likes, at one point trying to go without food altogether, probably would enjoy being a monk if he could, he can't give a reason for the asceticism, but expresses disgust with regard to "matters of the flesh", his own body and sometimes normal appetites of others. Strong aversion to meat.

Dear Vera, if the denial/asceticism is partly or wholly based on
'disgust', then I would use that rubric and build on that, adding
'withdrawal', --- meat, depression, celibacy, hot, etc. Being a monk is
perhaps a type of enslavement to the denial - makes me think of
Tarentula (a rx that Didier Grandgeorge describes as having a fear of
slavery - this fear develops into an imposed, enforced slavery rather
than avoiding it. So, for example, the celibacy actually hides a strong
desire that has to be denied). But there are other rx in that rubric +
sub rubrics that might be of interest such as Aurum, Mercury, some the

Could this suit lac humanum or maternum? (Issues around love /
self-love, incarnation?) I don't know the remedies well, so it's in
the "just a thought" department!

I agree with Joy that Tarentula looks appealing. Aversion to meat,
disgust etc. are in Tarentula.

Asceticism - Penance - is also Platinum- which also has the disgust,
aversion to meat etc.

Probably even Pulsatilla - has disgust in general prominently and
also aversion to meat...

Plat and Puls have some of the general disgust and aversion to
humanity of this case

Ign has these too - also has conscientious scruples about eating

Kali mur - imagines he must starve ( refuses eating (in insanity))

and not to forget Thuja-

I would consider Puls - esp. so because of the heat < with all the
other symptoms
