mumps

We (US, Midwest) keep hearing about more and more mumps cases!
It's worth re-mentioning that, in addition to our homeopathic arsenal,
good ol' Vitamin C has had some success. Sheri posted someone's good
results with intravenous vitamin C in quite large amounts. I wanted
also to share my own experience.

I had mumps (first and only time) in my 20s (about 30 years ago), and
it was truly horrendous, the most painful thing I have ever
experienced, visions of my neck exploding, gah. Short version: On the
second day my mother (one of the original "heatlh nuts") started
shoving vitamin C down me--2,000 mg to start, and then 1,000 mg per
hour. The swelling--and pain!!--started to drop almost immediately,
and by the time we got home (from my college) five hours later, it was
nearly gone, and I was long-since pain-free. The next day, if I
remember right, I was entirely well. Didn't need any IV, just big ol'
pills. (Overdose of vitamin C gives short-lived diarrhea, but
achieving it takes more than that, apparently.)

If anyone finds a mumps case to test this out on, I sure would LOVE to
hear whether it works! And if it does work, that makes all this
hysteria (not to mention the vaccinations) seem even dumber...
