Dear Tan, the fact that you have a choice between such a varying group
of rx is some cause for concern but this often happens when the
emotional and/or mental sx seem so 'powdery' (for want of a better
word). When this happens you need to focus on the facts of the case and
these are often provided in the form of physical sx - so the warts,
psoriasis and chesty coughs become high ranking sx. Is there any other
tendency to other acutes to use as clues.

Anyway don't forget the more obvious Thuja :-)
Best wishes, Joy

Hello Joy,

Thanks for the input! Only other thing that comes up is if he works a
lot then some pressure in the lower back, and pressure/tension in the
neck and shoulders which, as he says, is nothing more than what would
be expected. He's pretty healthy on the physical level, it's all
mental/emotional.

Can you say more about why Thuja might appear obvious?

Thanking you Kindly,
Tan.

Hi Joy,

You're so onto it . Sorry for the delay. Tell me...how do you
folks get the time to participate so readily and so frequently?

Yes, both China and Coffea have possibilities. Have also looked at
Psor, Med, Cocc, Hydrog, Calc-phos, Hell, & Cann-i amongst others.
I'm going looking for MM on Ignis alcoholis too.
There's some Phos here too and the 2 elements Sulph and Phos are next
to each other in the periodic table.
Anh but doesn't merge with nature

See following for pracy of Pt's Sxs...looked too good for Sulph and
have gone with it so will be interesting to see what the 1st response
is.

Appearance:
Australian born, Irish/Scottish/Maurician descent (back 3 gen's)
Wgt: approx 65Kg; Hgt: 170cm
Eyes: Green-Brown; reasonable eyelashes
Hair: Dk brown, dishevilled/untidy, bleached spilt ends, thick bushy
eyebrows, neatish dark beard and moustache
Clothes: Collared shirt, sml block print pattern; striped light wgt
jumper (some holes and bit ragged), tatty colourful woven wristband/
bracelet; loose style cotton/linen beige pants
Pleasant attractive face, uncreased
Good posture
Sits forward and leans onto desk towards me
Eye contact reasonable (not intense)
Gestures in line with discussion..nothing prominent to note
Comfortable, easy to get on with (though exhausting mentally)
Occasional pauses to think deeply before answering

Presenting complaint:
Gets depressed about unproductive thought processes, even though mind
is so active ambitions don't actualise, wishes to appraoach life more
decisively

Outline:
Time is running out and I'm only 20yo.
Des to actualise his dreams (says has ridiculous, unachievable goals)
Tries to accomplish many tasks finishes none
Easily distracted; AI not engaged, not digested (believes this is why
a poor memory and didn't learn so well at school)
No focus, no real depth
Procrastinates
Disorganised
Theorising (VERY in his head)
Decisions difficult (constantly differentiating between 2 things,
dissectiing, analysing all the possibilities)
Abstract mind (speaks of fractals, mind separated, everything he does
defines him, intangible)
Thirst for knowledge
Studied Visual Arts and Music at Uni, very creative, loves writing
music/songs but gets bored = no time to sit; also likes music that

may have taken wrong paths, made wrong choices..."What if")
Unsure of self, says has no self love (low self esteem?...not
egotistical)
Frequently challenges self (eg. going O/seas for 12mths with the
smallest back-pack you've ever seen of 25 litre)
Compares self to others levels, rules, a scale for everything (this
came up strongly again when asked re jealousy - of other people's
merits, brilliance, or beauty..has an instant effect on me..one of
the few times no thought is involved..goes straight to my gut =
feeling sunken, diminished, lose my power and then the mind racier.
When he said this my 1st reaction was thinking along the lines of Phos)
Worries about missing out, being left behind
Enjoys attention
Can get infatuated with someone, move out of self, very open, share
myself but at other times feel distant & in my head
Restless, des change every 3-6mths

things, discover myself above my posessions
Sleep deprived, has had too much to do
SensatN - "Deja vu", everything seems familiar, AI if emotions dreamt
before...wash over body, felt most at gut..fizzling..comes suddenly
and leaves quickly..like a drug
SensatN - "Frazzled/Wiry"= AI on coffee and had little sleep,
exciteable, distractible..increased state but then comes down, hard
to sit in the middle
Haven't cried in 4yrs, low depth of emotion, nothing stirs me
enough..want to feel things (has father issues and with 2 step-dads
that were in/out of his life all the time..used to miss lots and
cry..eventually stopped crying..not supported coming into adulthood -
so can see why he has lost connection with his emotions)
Don't feel connected with environment or emotions, disconnected with

Clean and meticulous but doesn't need regular showers, can put back
on same clothes

bright colours

I can actually think of a few 'obvious' contenders but I was thinking
Thuja because of the 'separation' of body and soul that they experience
(often due to the fixed ideas - which are also akin to theorising,
making plans, but never realising those plans because they are too
'fixed' on them). That separation means they cannot connect properly so
feel at odds with the world. They become fragmented and thus cannot
resolve or bring together all the ideas. Very sensitive, easily
affected by music. Perception of time is often blurred so they become
hurried, time passes too quickly. << at night so poor sleep.
Accumulation of mucous in lungs, usually very hairy people (bushy
eyebrows), warts, lots of skin conditions.

It would be interesting to have some kind of time line with the case,
i.e. how did he get to be like this + possible causative factors. If it
is a case of lack of nurture/love = feeling lost and undirected then
that brings into frame many other rx such as the Lacs but it read like
he is spinning on a sixpence and cannot move forward, dragged down by
something. Thuja walks in a circle which is wonderfully reflective of
the fixed state. Best wishes, Joy

Yes I agree that there are several contenders which is why I baulked
at first re the Sulph. Had a look at Thuja for the same reasons you
discuss, in particular the soul 'separated' from body aspect.

Other things that Thuja suits:
A fanatacism with challenging himself
Phos-like qualities (might be camaflouge for Thuja but I feel he is
genuinely open)
Ugliness (not in direct words but the jealous/comparison response to
other's accomplishments, brilliance and beauty might fit)
Unloveable (becoming the class clown to avoid abuse, unsupported by
father and step fathers)
Hurry during mental exertion
Difficulty concentrating
Conscientious about trifles
Can feel watched by someone (in the dark)
Des choc and salt
Back..pressive pain, stiffness, tension
Likes climbing trees (ok, a long shot but also when asked later what
he had the most affinity for animal, plant or mineral he quickly
chose plant)

Things against:
Too open, unguarded...not secretive, closed or defensive. I do
realise that can be hard to pick in a Thuja Pt. but I don't believe
he is a 'great masquerader'
Too helpful in trying to give information...so much so that I had to
be careful with questioning as he was very suggestible and too eager
to please.
Avers things that define him...that people might judge him by his
possessions rather than for who he really is (he doesn't appear to
want to hide himself)
< cold wet weather (cold yes but did say loved the rain and was happy
to run around in it or swim during rain)
Not avers company or strangers, not a loner...can feel too connected
to friends/infatuated
< coffee
Not < moonlight (finds the moon powerful, when full, low, big and
red...likes to see it...walking in the bush with moonlight, takes the
darkness away)
Aversion to life (says loves life)
Fear on seeing green stripes (but loves stripes and was wearing
stripes..green, cream and red)
Walks in a circle (says in procrastination that he gets to the point
of just standing still in his room and in his mind is looking for
something to do to get out of it)

? Lacs: Says has a great mother, no issues with her, very supportive,
she kept the family together. Has a lot of respect for her and women
in general. Relates best with women!

I had to point out that there may be issues from his lack of being
fathered/nurtured. He didn't know his real dad, 1st stepfather was
there when he was a newborn for about 6yrs. The 2nd stepfather after
that, who only recently split with his mother, didn't nurture or
connect much with him though still demanded fatherly respect, was
dominant and didn't listen to his opinions. Said there was a lot of
tension and weight in the house, like stepping on eggshells. Pt.
feels sorry for both these stepfathers for not being good fathers.

It was about Yr12 (final year) at high school that he became
disorganised and felt not supported coming into adulthood, not
allowed to feel perfected. It was also around this time that he
didn't enjoy the male group mentality and was avers malehood, was
negative about his own male sexuality. Said his unproductive thought
processes, not achieving goals, and feeling unintelligent has been
building up since high school.

I would describe his state as more of a 'to and fro' sensation. The
constant dilema of decision making (irresolution/indecision)...will I
go this way or will I go that way...if I go that way 'what if' I had
gone the other way. He constantly differentiates. Perhaps it's
cowardice in decision making (Med)?

When asked to supply a self description AI he was writing to a pen-
friend for the 1st time he found this incredibly difficult and it
took him a bit to get started...came up with this: Very open, not
shut off; ridiculous; enjoy life; love people and friends and
conversation; interests - dance/music; travel; camping, the bush,
tree climbing; a fence-sitter, undefined, recreating myself; always
performing with fun things to do.

Thanks Joy...on looking back over Thuja it has given me more food for
thought

This, what you say about him being negative about his own male
sexuality, suggests Hydrogen - 'confusion as to their sexual identity'
rubric. As this is pertinent to the beginning of this state for him it
is probably important (whatever the reason for it might be). This rx
would fit with much that you have written. Hope useful, best wishes,
Joy

...ah ha...so you can see why I had that Rx listed as one of my
earlier considerations. I think that Hydrog, Thuj & others are all
there...it was more a matter of which was the uppermost.
Will report back to the list after I hear of the first response. He
will unfortunately be already OS so I wont get to view him in the
flesh...he will be emailing me...so a tad more difficult to observe
subtle changes...can only do one's best under the circumstances.

Thanks again to you and everyone's input!

Kind Regz,
Tan.

Hi, ~Tan~

Anh. may not be spot-on, but you might want to look at other drug and
amphetamine-like remedies. Having just come from Massimo's seminar on the
topic, it sounds as if the Px's continual theorizing may be a way of keeping
people at bay. And all these remedies tend to have real problems with cold.
I'd need more information on the Px to narrow it down further.

Peace,
Cinnabar
