Concerta drug

I have a patient (12 years old) who has been taking Concerta - a form of Ritalin. He just started on a remedy. Is this a drug that can be stopped "cold turkey"? or should it be stopped gradually? During vacations the parents stop the Concerta for the duration of the vacation with no ill effects.
Anyone have any info on this?
