Find the name of the following remedy:

Characteristic symptoms of the rectal region is
usually indicative of this remedy.

The patient experiences a long-lasting (and usually
burning) pain in rectum after stool. The pain compells
the patient to rise and walk and are aggravated at
night.

Itching in anus is another important symptom of this
remedy. Ulceration of anus and perineum is accompanied
by oozing of offensive moisture.

Chronic moist skin ulcers may appear on different
parts of body. It is one of the useful remedies in
treatment of bedsores.

< Touch and pressure.

The patient is nervous and irritable, esp in
afternoon. 'Restlessness while walking'.

Sincerely,

OOOOOOPS - ignore my notes on "Find the Remedy" - I only got truncated parts
of the info. for some reason (nothing about ulcers or nightmares) and
reading notes from others i can see that it is obviously some other remedy.
Apologies. Joy

From Hughes - Pharmacodynamics (in EH)

of which we prepare a tincture from the fresh root.

- This, it is said, must be gathered in spring; when August comes, its power
has been lost.

- There is a short pathogenesis of --------------- in the twenty-first volume
of the Hygea, mainly consisting of symptoms observed by Dr. Geyer on himself
and three others, who all took substantial doses of the mother-tincture.

- There is little in it worthy of note, and the plant has scarcely received
any medicinal employment.

- But one of its effects-" painful ulcer at the anus, with exudation of a
foetid moisture "-led Dr. Ozanam * to use it in a similar condition occurring
idiopathically; and his success induced him to extend its application to other
ulcers, with rarely failing benefit.

- Dr. Guerin-Meneville says that, " according to him, ---------------- would
be efficacious in every ulceration seated below the umbilicus."

- But Dr. Ozanam only states that his experience had been limited to this
part of the body; while he ends his paper with a fresh case in which an ulcer
of the breast readily healed under its use.

- He used the first three dilutions, either externally alone, or also
internally.

- Dioscorides and Pliny recommend it for nightmare, and it caused this
affection in Dr. Geyer himself.

From Choudhuri:

Although it is a remedy little known and little used, I would not like any
homeopath to be altogether ignorant of [remedy]. Its indications, though not
many are very clear-cut and precise. It is mostly useful in anal abscesses,
fissures, fistulae and boils. The leading indications are intolerable pain
during and after stools and the oozing of a kind of moisture from the anus,
leaving it constantly damp. Dr. Hering reports of a case of ulceration of
the rectum of 18 years' standing that responded most marvellously to the
action for [remedy]. This patient had been operated on several times, but in
vain. His anus and its surroundings were purple and they were covered with
thick crusts. On the verge and entrance of the rectum, there were several
fissured ulcers with elevated and indurated edges. The pain was atrocious
with and after each stool, preventing sleep. He had to walk nearly all
night. There was constant ozzing from the fissures.
This remedy compares well with Graph., Nit. acid, Phos., Ratanhia, and
Silicea.
In Graph. the pain is violent. The rectum feels, as if it is split with
a knife; this makes it quite inconvenient for the patient to take wide
steps. There are rhagades at the anus. Every stool is followed by a
sensation of constriction.
Nit. acid is also a remedy for fissure of the anus, particularly when
there is a feeling as if there were splinters or sticks poking at the anus.
The feeling of constriction, as seen in Graph. is absent.
Phos. is indicated in bleeding piles. Blood flows profusely with each
stool. Violent burning is experienced after stools.
Ratanhia is an excellent remedy for fissure of the anus, and is useful
when there is constriction of the anus. Stools are forced with great effort
and the anus aches and burns for hours after stools.
Silica is also as good a remedy for fissure of the anus as [remedy].
The patient tries to force the stool but after partial expulsion it slips
back again. The hemorrhoids are intensely painful; the pain goes from the
anus to the testicles. There is usually complication of fistula with piles.
[Remedy] has a peculiar sensation of splinter in the skin of right
great toe when touched.
It is an important remedy for nightmares and dreams of terrifying
nature.
