Hello,
There is nothing controversial about giving rapid doses in a very
acute situation. This is common practice introduced by Hahnemann in the
Organon. Of course, it is wise to slow down such rapid doses as the patient
improves so one avoids unneeded aggravations, etc.
Hahnemann used DESCENDING potencies his entire career. His most common
series was to lower his potencies from 30c to 24c to 18c to 12c to 6c. He
tended to raise his higher potencies like 198, 199 and 200c as well as the
LM potencies 0/1 to 0/30c. He also suggested at times not to repeat the
same potency twice. For many years he suggested changing the potencies with
each dose, and finally he developed the medicinal solution so that even if
one using the same potency spectrum the patient never receives the exact
same potency twice in succession.
There is nothing radically new with the idea of not repeating the same
potency twice in succession nor rapid doses in emergencies and acute
conditions when necessary. Giving Psorinum to everybody as their first
remedy????? Using such a nosode in every case of acute disease? Well, that
is a different story!
Sincerely, David

Instant cure with Psorinum/Barbara

***Dear David
Please could you explain why the descending potency scale seems to have been
mainly abandoned in favour of the ascending scale?
Many thanks

Dear Kerry,
I am not really sure? Perhaps, because when Hahnemann was using
potencies above the 30c and the LM potency he tended to rise the potencies?
I think it is very interesting that he lower his low potencies and raised
his high potencies! Most people depend on modern sources for their
information and don't really study the works of the first generation. IMO,
"modern classical Homoeopathy" is only using a small % of the methods that
Hahnemann and the first generation introduced. Therefore, most persons are
still using the 4th Organon exclusive single dose wait and watch method
instead of the single dose in strikingly ameliorations and repeating the
dose to speed the cure in slow moving case, which is found in the 5th and
6th Organon. Many still use the static dry dose method instead of the
medicinal solution and divided doses when necessary. Why is homoeopath in
2006 still stuck in the 1820s when Hahnemann continued to evolve the system
through the 1830 and 1840s? I think the answer is psychic inertia and an
unconscious fear of change.

***Thanks David. I had been trying to find information on this very topic
but had found very little. The only book that had covered this topic
briefly was Michelle Shine's 'What About The Potency?' but I had been
hoping to find more info. I found it odd that Hahnemann used the descending
scale so extensively and yet this topic wasn't covered anywhere.
Regards
Kerry.

Speaking of ascending and descending potencies, unnecessary repetition,
medicinal solution vs dry dose, etc... David's online course is really good.
I'm taking it and there are gems of knowledge there.
I think it's absoluely worth taking it, especielly considering the wonderful
compilation he has done over the years of material relevant to our
practices.

****I agree! I am taking it as well and this is what got me pondering on
the descending scale and the reasons for it no longer being used
extensively.
