These "checks and balances" are so important because they protect the
patient from our humanity - our lack of knowledge, our lack of
experience, and the destructive effects of our egos.

"Classicists", rather than being stuck in their ways, work from these
checks and balances for the protection of the patient. This does not
mean that they never trial new approaches - of course they do, but not
in the cavalier approach that those operating from their ego do. The
welfare of the patient who has placed their trust in us is paramount.
