Dear Barbara,
I'm not a practitioner, just a fan, have been a list member for a looong
time. Whenever a remedy is suggested related to a condition, I write it
down (not the symptoms, just the rem, since the symptoms can be checked by
looking up the rem). For cystic fibrosis, I have silica, lobelia, senega, selen,
nickle, baryta carb, corylus avellana, arama ixobola. Hope looking at these

Yes, I think we have been on the same lists for about the same amount of time!

Interesting suggestions, and I've noted them, but I doubt I will be treating this guy, as
I have noted on the back of my card that he had a heart AND lung transplant, and he
is now well over the life-expectation in CF. My feeling is that someone a lot more
experienced than I might consider this guy as a px, but I would not be doing him or
homeopathy any favours if I just 'tried to help'.

Still hoping that someone on list will come up with more thoughts regarding protocol
or experience, but maybe they are busy.

This I have in my files from Jan Scholten, who apparently has some luck with
this condition using Asclepias tuber. which he appears to use as a
lesional/disease remedy in "protocol" format.

-You can not use the Sx of disease to repertorize the disease BUT Jan says
it is impossible NOT to use the Ds itself as part of repertorization

-You many not use all the Sx of the disease itself, but you can use the
disease itself, or the THEME of disease

-Such as Sx in cancer = Sx are general are useless to repertorize BUT the Sx
must still belong to rx you prescribe for the P w that Ds

-You can repertorize SRP Sx of cancer in Disease state however

For cystic fibrosis we have had good result in our clinic with Asclepias
tuberosa. All symptoms gone.

QUESTIONS from seminar:

When you say success do you mean a clear sweat test or just no symptoms of
CF.

Is Asclepias Tub the only remedy used? If so how prescribed - potency and
frequency. Do patients need life long treatment for lungs and bowels.

Did your patients have bowel and lung complications. Our baby was diagnosed
at months and to date has stayed clear of lung problems and bowels are
working % without enzymes. Should we look at other remedies or does
Asclepias Tub cover these too. He is currently on M Kali C once per month
and mother tincture of Ceannothus americanus daily,

I'll give anyone with CF asc-t first. All cases had only asclepias, mostly
M, once month for at least half a year.. In these cases the internal doctors
started doubting the CF after the Asclepias, so the sweat test became
negative. The cases I mentioned didn't need antibiotics anymore.

Ok, I'll have a close look at this before I phone the mother back with a yea or nay
about homeopathic possible treatment. I didn't want to raise her hopes till I had a bit
more info - so thanks for your insights Andy.

Apart from research funding which tends ( I believe) to be more significant in some countries than others, or at least it used to be, there is probably less money being made now out of basic steroids, a/bs and physio than there would be out of a selenium injection suitable for a neonatal (which is part of what Wallach says is required to treat the condition). Such an injection would not be a DIY job. So following the money doesn't seem as convincing to me in this case as it might in some others.

No, I don't have a strong opinion about selenium (great if he was proved right, especially in his preventive conclusions), but I think the naivety is in assuming that every critic of the establishment view must be right or that people offering alternative views can't get it wrong.
Much was made of Eli Wallach's bereavement just before his sacking in the links. It must have been a devastating time for him all round but the bereavement is really and truly not relevant to the issue. The world of medical research is pretty cut-throat and nasty I am sure - who is saying it isn't?
